Our team is currently working on a new experience that will shape the future of shopping and are seeking a talented software developer to lead and drive the development of this new feature.

As a software developer in this role, you will have the opportunity to design and lead the development of a unique and engaging feature for millions of customers. You will play an active role in building quick prototypes or proofs of concept in partnership with other technology leaders within the team. You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon. Along the way, you’ll learn a lot, have fun and make a positive impact on millions of people.

The ideal candidate is excited about front-end development, and the creation of elegant user experiences. They will work closely with product management, and visual designers, to implement next-generation coherent user experiences for the Amazon Customer.

What we are looking for
We are looking for a talented Software Development Engineer with a strong technical background, customer obsession and bias for action with a track record of leading and delivering robust solutions quickly. Strong judgment and communication skills, long-term technical vision, and continuous focus on engineering and operational excellence are essential for success in this role. You will be expected to be proficient technically, mentor and grow junior developers, encourage software development best practices, and iterate quickly.

Key job responsibilities
- Collaborate with our design team to define and implement exceptional user experiences
- Build distributed services that can handle our massive customer base
- Work closely with data scientists to build and host machine learning models in production
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and tools owned by the team
- Relish the idea of solving problems and be comfortable with a degree of ambiguity that’s higher than most projects

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

London, GBR

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience (non-internship) in professional software development
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
