Embedded Engineer – HealthTech Start-up (Derbyshire) - C++ - Connectivity - Hardware - Software - Edge Processing


We have partnered with an innovative HealthTech start-up in Derbyshire to support them in recruiting for anEmbedded Engineerwith strong hardware experience to develop an advanced edge-processing camera solution for real-time monitoring. In this role, you’ll work on integrating cameras with smart boxes, ensuring robust 4G/5G connectivity, and optimizing embedded systems for machine learning deployment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hardware and software engineering, especially in C++ development, IoT, and edge AI.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, optimize, and productize embedded systems for real-time camera connectivity and processing.
  • Integrate 4G/5G networking to enable remote data transmission.
  • Implement and maintain C++ applications for edge computing.
  • Deploy and optimize machine learning models on embedded devices.
  • Design low-power, high-efficiency hardware solutions for field deployment.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to integrate AI-driven insights into the platform.
  • Work closely with beta testers and early adopters to ensure smooth onboarding and troubleshooting.
  • Create technical documentation for user installation or installation by qualified electricians.


Key Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in embedded software development using C++.
  • Strong understanding of IoT devices, edge computing, and real-time data processing.
  • Experience with camera hardware, video streaming, and image processing.
  • Familiarity with 4G/5G network protocols and connectivity challenges.
  • Experience in deploying AI/ML models on embedded devices.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical team members.
  • A hands-on, proactive approach, ready to get involved in all aspects of the project.


  • Location:Derbyshire, Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite
  • Salary:£60,000+ Benefits Package
