We are now looking for an experienced, data-driven, curious, and growth-minded Data Scientist to join our Commercial Excellence Team. If you are passionate about turning complex data into actionable insights and want to make a real business impact, this is your opportunity.

How You Will Make An Impact

As a Data Scientist in the NRM Centre of the Excellence organisation, you will play a key role in supporting Arla’s growth and profitability ambitions across our European markets. This is a hands‑on, operational role where you will work closely with cross‑functional teams to analyse commercial data, develop advanced analytics tools, and translate insights into strategic decisions.

You will be the go‑to expert for understanding our data landscape – identifying opportunities, addressing challenges, and helping shape the future of data science at Arla within the commercial space. Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Translate business objectives into data science problems and develop solutions that drive commercial value

  • Continuously improve existing models and develop new ones to meet evolving business needs
  • Visualise insights using tools like Power BI and communicate findings to stakeholders in a clear, compelling way
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis, test hypotheses, and uncover trends and patterns
  • Ensure high‑quality code, documentation, and scalable, stable solutions

What Will Make You Successful

We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist who is not only technically skilled but also driven by curiosity and a passion for creating value. You are proactive and thrive on identifying opportunities for improvement, always ready to share new ideas and perspectives on how data can be leveraged to drive the business forward.

  • A university degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, econometrics, mathematics, or data science
  • At least 2‑5 years of hands‑on experience after finalising university, where you have applied advanced analytics to real‑world business problems
  • An analytical mindset with the ability to synthesize data from multiple sources
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets (e.g., Nielsen, SAP, retailer ePOS)
  • Strong understanding of relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server)
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong data visualisation capabilities (PowerBI or similar)
  • Preferably experience with Databricks

Please note that for this position, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship or relocation support.

What do we offer?

We are committed to professional development and promoting from within. Our positive and collaborative culture will bring out the best in you. You will join a market leader who produces nutritious household‑favorite brands in a way that makes things better for our customers, the farmers who own us, and the whole world.

Machine Learning Hiring Trends 2026: What to Watch Out For (For Job Seekers & Recruiters)

As we move into 2026, the machine learning jobs market in the UK is going through another big shift. Foundation models and generative AI are everywhere, companies are under pressure to show real ROI from AI, and cloud costs are being scrutinised like never before. Some organisations are slowing hiring or merging teams. Others are doubling down on machine learning, MLOps and AI platform engineering to stay competitive. The end result? Fewer fluffy “AI” roles, more focused machine learning roles with clear ownership and expectations. Whether you are a machine learning job seeker planning your next move, or a recruiter trying to build ML teams, understanding the key machine learning hiring trends for 2026 will help you stay ahead.

Machine Learning Recruitment Trends 2025 (UK): What Job Seekers Need To Know About Today’s Hiring Process

Summary: UK machine learning hiring has shifted from title‑led CV screens to capability‑driven assessments that emphasise shipped ML/LLM features, robust evaluation, observability, safety/governance, cost control and measurable business impact. This guide explains what’s changed, what to expect in interviews & how to prepare—especially for ML engineers, applied scientists, LLM application engineers, ML platform/MLOps engineers and AI product managers. Who this is for: ML engineers, applied ML/LLM engineers, LLM/retrieval engineers, ML platform/MLOps/SRE, data scientists transitioning to production ML, AI product managers & tech‑lead candidates targeting roles in the UK.

Why Machine Learning Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

Machine learning (ML) has moved from research labs into mainstream UK businesses. From healthcare diagnostics to fraud detection, autonomous vehicles to recommendation engines, ML underpins critical services and consumer experiences. But the skillset required of today’s machine learning professionals is no longer purely technical. Employers increasingly seek multidisciplinary expertise: not only coding, algorithms & statistics, but also knowledge of law, ethics, psychology, linguistics & design. This article explores why UK machine learning careers are becoming more multidisciplinary, how these fields intersect with ML roles, and what both job-seekers & employers need to understand to succeed in a rapidly changing landscape.
