About the Role:

We're seeking a highly motivated and talentedData Science R&D Specialistwith a passion for sustainability and strong communication skills to join our growing team. This role is a unique blend ofAI research and developmentwith anAI Evangelistcomponent, where you will contribute to cutting-edge AI-driven sustainability solutions while representing INSUS at industry events, conferences, and webinars.

As a key member of our team, you will work on developing innovative AI applications for sustainability challenges while also engaging with global audiences to share insights, inspire change, and establish INSUS as a thought leader at the intersection of AI and sustainability.


Responsibilities:

  • Data Scientist:
  • Conduct advanced research in AI and machine learning (including NLP and predictive modelling) with a focus on sustainability applications such as climate change modeling, resource optimization, circular economy, and ESG analytics.
  • Develop and implement ‘green’ algorithms to analyze complex datasets to enhance operational efficiency and prioritizing sustainability.
  • Design and execute experiments to evaluate the performance of developed models and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with other researchers and engineers to integrate AI solutions into real-world industrial applications.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements / emerging trends in AI, data science, and sustainability, applying the latest innovations to our work.
  • Contribute to peer-reviewed research publications, industry whitepapers and conferences.


  • AI Ambassador & Public Speaker:
  • Represent INSUS as a thought leader in the intersection of AI and sustainability.
  • Deliver engaging and informative presentations at conferences, workshops, webinars, and other public events.
  • Develop and deliver workshops and training sessions on AI applications in sustainability.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the sustainability and AI communities.
  • Create educational and thought leadership content, including blog posts, whitepapers, social media articles, to showcase INSUS’ expertise.
  • Identify and pursue strategic opportunities to enhance the visibility of INSUS in AI and sustainability sectors.


Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Computer Science, Data Science, Environmental Science, or a related field with a focus on machine learning and statistical modeling.
  • Proven experience in conducting research and developing machine learning models, preferably in the area of sustainability.
  • Strong programming skills in R (essential) and other relevant languages (e.g., Python, SQL).
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets, applying data science techniques to generate actionable insights.
  • Excellent understanding of statistical methods, predictive modelling, and algorithm optimization.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills (e.g. Canva usage), with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Demonstrated experience in public speaking and presenting at conferences or other events - please provide links to past talks or presentations if available.
  • Passion for sustainability and a strong commitment to making a positive impact on the environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a highly collaborative team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.


Bonus Points:

  • Experience in specific sustainability domains such as energy, agriculture, water resource management.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience with data visualization tools.
  • Active participation in the AI and sustainability communities.
