Overview

We are seeking a talented Data Scientist to join our Data Science team at Gallagher Re and help lead our Data Science work. You will be joining a newly established Data Science & AI Centre of Excellence within our Digital Products team. We are looking for expertise in Python and Azure Machine Learning to develop data-driven solutions to address business challenges and create innovative digital products. The role is commercially focused and you will work alongside a team of experienced actuaries, brokers, data scientists, and product and delivery managers to create value for our client insurers through creation of innovative analytics and digital products. This role is based from our London City office and we offer hybrid working and the expectation is to be in office two days per week. How you'll make an impact Develop and implement machine learning models using Python and Azure Machine Learning. Migrate and operationalise models for flood, quake, climate, and hurricane predictions. Support the development of our Cyber Technographic Insight Discovery Engine (TIDE). Utilise classical machine learning techniques to build explainable models. Contribute to our AI strategy and enhance internal data science capabilities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven innovation. Write well-documented, tested, and readable code. Conduct data analysis, cleaning, and visualisation to uncover insights. Communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. About You Proven track record in data science at a senior level. Strong Python programming skills and experience with Azure Machine Learning. Understanding of classical machine learning and deep learning techniques. Commercially focused with an interest in reinsurance and risk. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field, or equivalent experience. Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Azure is preferred however experience with AWS and GCP will also be considered. SQL knowledge is preferred. Experience with deep learning frameworks and image analysis. Knowledge of insurance industry, particularly pricing and risk selection.
