The role


We are looking for a talented Data Scientist who can leverage machine learning and AI to enable innovative impact at scale, helping Rightmove deliver exceptional experiences and value to consumers, our partners and all our stakeholders across the UK property market.


In this role you will work in a cross functional team to identify business opportunities, design and implement machine learning and AI models, as part of developing innovative and impactful solutions. As well, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing models that go beyond traditional machine learning techniques. Working closely with people across product, design, engineering and data, you will explore and apply ML and AI techniques, contributing to the creation of novel solutions and driving innovation. You will bring passion for exploring new technologies and have a strong technical foundation.


The Data & Analytics Team has continuously grown over the past 18 months, and we continue to invest in enriching our data and data science capabilities to deliver effective and impactive solutions in an industry that is exciting, interesting, relevant, and challenging.

A typical week as a Data Scientist might involve;

Designing and implementing machine learning and AI models and systems for tasks such as consumer prediction and classification, recommendation systems, image synthesis and text generation.


Applying statistical methods to analyse and interpret complex datasets providing insight into both structured and unstructured data.
Discussing with wider stakeholders on business problems and potential ways for machine learning or AI could help address them.
Collaborating with domain experts to identify and engineer meaningful features for both machine learning and generative AI applications.
Working with Machine Learning Engineers and Data Engineers to gather, clean and pre-process datasets for machine learning models.
Designing and evaluating experiments, monitoring key product metrics, and understanding the root causes of changes in metrics.
Monitoring deployed solutions in production.
Keeping other team members and stakeholders informed about progress and challenges.
Providing critical inputs to both short-term tactical actions and long-term technology choices and strategies.
Sharing knowledge across the data and AI community across Rightmove.

We’re looking for someone who;

Has relevant and impactful experience of developing and deploying machine learning models. Experience of large language models and generative AI frameworks would be welcomed.


Can help support organisational capabilities around machine learning and generative AI
Knows how to understand and tackle loosely defined problems with machine learning solutions
Can communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences effectively
Is curious and has a creative mind, coupled with first rate critical thinking skills
Has experience working within cross functional teams and collaborating across teams
Has the ability to challenge and question ideas, openly and honestly, whilst providing solutions and options
Keeps abreast of the latest advancements in data science, machine learning and generative AI.

We would love someone to have any of the following Proven formal experience as a data scientist in a role similar, building models as part of production pipelines;
Professional experience in large scale data processing SQL and Python;
Strong knowledge of statistical analysis and machine learning, experience with machine learning packages (e.g. XGBoost, LightGBM) and deep learning frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras);
Experience with generative AI and large language models and frameworks (e.g. OpenAI, Gemini, Llama, Hugging Face, LangChain) would be desirable;
Knowledge of software development paradigms (e.g. Object-orientated programming), related tools (e.g. Git) and cloud technologies (eg. GCP, BigQuery, Vertex AI, dbt);
Experience with data visualisation tools desirable
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills and are comfortable working with multiple stakeholders

Desirable - Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field. For example, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related STEM subject degree.
