We’re supporting a leading insights consultancy in the food and drink sector in their search for a Lead Data Scientist. This is a key hire, heading up a small data team and shaping the company’s data and AI strategy across its insight platforms.

The business delivers high-quality subscription-based data tools, helping global brands make smarter decisions across retail.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of the full data lifecycle, from sourcing and modelling to deploying machine learning and AI solutions. You'll explore the use of LLMs and advanced analytics to enhance both internal tools and client-facing features. Managing a team of three, you’ll also play a central role in product strategy and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Focus Areas

Build and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure
Develop and deploy ML models, including LLM-driven tools
Manage, coach and grow the data team
Align data strategy with business goals and product roadmap
Identify opportunities for automation and innovation
Stay up to date with the latest in AI and machine learning 

What You’ll Need

Strong experience leading end-to-end data science projects
Proficiency in Python and SQL
Solid knowledge of data modelling, ETL and cloud platforms (Azure ideal)
Experience with LLMs or similar AI systems
Comfortable working with stakeholders across tech and commercial teams
Clear communication and strong team leadership skills 

Extras
