What to expect

Providing an insurance quote is a very data intensive process, and with many millions of quotes and policies to issue, trustworthy and scalable data flows become integral to achieving our ambitious targets for growth.

As a Data Engineer, you will join us on our journey and undertake a critical role across Post Office Insurance, responsible for managing data flows, working across Python/SQL on Databricks, Pricing Execution on Earnix as well as locally performed analysis using Excel. You will proactively participate in the delivery of functional strategy and commercial objectives, always modelling appropriate behaviour and demonstrating a customer first mindset.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in the role, you will be an experienced Data Engineer, with previous experience working in a commercial environment. In addition to this, you will:

  • Possess first-class communication skills with the ability to collaborative and influence
  • Demonstrate experience of a coding language, as a minimum SQL
  • Have experience of distributed data systems and data lakes, including systems such as Databricks, Snowflake, S3 and/ or Lakehouse
  • Demonstrate experience of infrastructure providers such as AWS, Azure or GCP
  • Experience of Spark SQL would also be preferred
  • Academic qualification of proven self-learning in a STEM Subject is also desirable
