Role:Data Engineer

Location: London, hybrid working 3 days per week on site

Duration: 6-months

Rate: £90 - £95 per hour (umbrella)

About the Team

You'll be joining the Data Platform Team, a dynamic group responsible for a wide range of roles, including performance and stability, compliance, data architecture, and Information Lifecycle Management (ILM). As a key part of the development lifecycle, the team supports Non-Functional Requirements (NFR) to ensure the system and its services are continuously available.

What You Will Be Doing

In this role, you'll focus on specialized areas of the Data Platform, leveraging your governance expertise to create top-tier data management solutions. A primary responsibility will be to develop ILM services from the ground up, ensuring they meet all NFRs, including compliance and performance. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies to deliver robust and stable solutions. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data management principles and emerging technologies, paired with excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business and technical requirements.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance product and service capabilities.
  • Build solutions to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance.
  • Support audit and compliance requirements such as encryption, security, and archiving.
  • Collaborate with team members to create a positive and efficient working environment.



What You Bring

  • Proactive, can-do attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven track record working with high-volume processing systems.
  • Strong understanding of Oracle database architecture.
  • Demonstrable problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in SQL.
  • Familiarity with programming techniques and structures (PL/SQL).
  • Knowledge of Oracle segment partitioning and index usage.



Added Bonus If You Have

  • Experience with Kafka Connect.
  • Familiarity with queuing systems/Kafka.
  • Knowledge of data serialization (JSON, XML, PARQUET, YAML).
  • Experience with high-volume distributed systems.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based data services.
  • Python/Shell scripting skills.
