The Opportunity

We are seeking a Data Engineer / Developer to join our rapidly growing team within Arup’s Digital Services Portfolio. Our team sit at the intersection of data techniques and the built and natural environment. We are looking for individuals who are keen to find ways to use data to make a positive difference to the world around us.

This is a client-facing role is ideal for someone with a strong background in data engineering, data management, Agile, DevOps, cloud platforms, testing, and their practical applications in real-world scenarios.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of data scientists, consultants, software engineers, and engineers to help organisations realise the value of their data. In this role you will:
  • Work on the delivery of data engineering products, projects and capabilities for our clients.
  • Deliver infrastructure in an agile DevOps manner.
  • Ensure the security and cost-effectiveness of data platform infrastructure.
  • Build collaborative and functional relationships with peers in technical, business leadership and business development roles.

Is this role right for you?

We’re looking for candidates with:
  • A degree qualification in a subject related to engineering, computer science, data science/ analytics, business or other quantitative analytical field, or equivalent work experience.
  • An expertise in Azure, AWS, or GCP tooling (particularly such as BigQuery, databricks, or equivalent) and expertise in infrastructure management and implementing scalable data pipelines.
  • Ability to automate workflows and optimise ETL/ELT processes for performance and cost efficiency.
  • Strong programming skills, including Python.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and deploying reusable analytical products and services.
