Data Analyst – Power BI & Sustainability Focus

Navantia UK is a UK‑incorporated subsidiary of Navantia, working with UK industrial partners in shipbuilding, defence and offshore wind energy. Navantia has a history of more than 300 years and is a world reference in the design, building, integration and life‑cycle support of state‑of‑the‑art warships for the Spanish Navy and international customers.

About the role

Navantia UK is seeking a skilled Data Analyst to join our QHSE team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys transforming complex data into meaningful insights and who is motivated by supporting sustainability and environmental performance across the business.

You will play a key role in capturing, analysing, and presenting data from a range of systems to support QHSE reporting, executive decision‑making, and our carbon reduction commitments. Strong Power BI capability is essential — you will design, develop, and maintain dashboards that communicate performance clearly and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the calculation, management, and annual reporting of Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards that deliver accurate, engaging, and insightful reporting for QHSE, senior management, and customers.
  • Produce high‑quality HSE and sustainability reports, using Power BI, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Evaluate and enhance existing QHSE and carbon reporting processes, ensuring consistency and reliability of data.
  • Support the delivery of Navantia UK’s sustainability strategy, collaborating with the corporate team to set and track carbon reduction targets.
  • Analyse data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement in health, safety, environmental, and sustainability performance.
  • Support bid and project teams by providing accurate and timely QHSE and carbon reporting data.
  • Act as a champion for data quality and integrity, ensuring consistency across systems and teams.

Qualifications
Essential:

  • Proven experience in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, data modelling, and dashboard design.
  • Advanced Excel skills for data preparation, transformation, and analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to present complex data clearly to non‑technical audiences.
  • Well‑organised and capable of managing multiple projects and priorities.
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across different functions and locations.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of QHSE principles and performance indicators.
  • Familiarity with carbon reporting frameworks and greenhouse gas emissions (Scopes 1–3).
  • Experience in developing or supporting sustainability reporting initiatives.

Working Environment

  • Based at any Navantia UK site, with the option of a hybrid working arrangement.
  • Occasional travel and overnight stays may be required.
  • Standard office environment with flexibility around working hours.

What We Offer

This is an opportunity to contribute to an organisation with a genuine commitment to safety, quality, and sustainability. You will have the autonomy to shape how Navantia UK uses data to drive performance, and the satisfaction of seeing your analysis directly influence our environmental impact.

If you are passionate about data, sustainability, and making a tangible difference, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply now and help us build a safer, smarter, and more sustainable future.

If you experience difficulties or are unable to apply for a role online please contact us at and one of the team will be in contact to help you.

Neurodiversity in Machine Learning Careers: Turning Different Thinking into a Superpower

Machine learning is about more than just models & metrics. It’s about spotting patterns others miss, asking better questions, challenging assumptions & building systems that work reliably in the real world. That makes it a natural home for many neurodivergent people. If you live with ADHD, autism or dyslexia, you may have been told your brain is “too distracted”, “too literal” or “too disorganised” for a technical career. In reality, many of the traits that can make school or traditional offices hard are exactly the traits that make for excellent ML engineers, applied scientists & MLOps specialists. This guide is written for neurodivergent ML job seekers in the UK. We’ll explore: What neurodiversity means in a machine learning context How ADHD, autism & dyslexia strengths map to ML roles Practical workplace adjustments you can ask for under UK law How to talk about neurodivergence in applications & interviews By the end, you’ll have a clearer sense of where you might thrive in ML – & how to turn “different thinking” into a genuine career advantage.
