A leading international bank in London is seeking a Data Analyst (AVP level).
This role will support the department’s management in delivering strategy and financial/qualitative targets, acting as part of the “First Line of Defence” by maintaining a robust control framework.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Data Analyst to work closely with global teams and contribute to data-driven business decisions.

Contract Type: Umbrella contract, full-time
Salary: £350-500 per day (including 25 days holiday pay) depending on experience
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 – 17:00 (Working in the office 2 to 3 days a week)

Data Analyst Main Responsibilities:
• Create, maintain and deliver periodic and ad hoc management presentations and reports
• Perform data gathering, processing, analysis and reconciliation to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Track and prepare detailed reports reflecting the department’s financial and qualitative performance against forecasts and budgets, analysing variances (actual vs forecast, YoY, etc.)
• Use various data sources and critical thinking to challenge forecasts, variances and assumptions, maintaining clear documentation
• Investigate anomalies or errors with financial impact, clearly explain issues, and propose and follow up on solutions
• Develop and enhance data management and reporting processes, documenting these in the Planning Group’s procedures manual
• Provide proactive data-driven analysis and contribute to improving business performance
• Utilise Business Intelligence tools (Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx) for insightful reports and visualisations

Data Analyst Ideal Candidate:
• 2–3 years’ experience as a Data Analyst or Business Intelligence Analyst, ideally within financial or professional services
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred)
• Strong numerical, accounting, and financial interpretation skills
• Advanced Excel skills essential; knowledge of MS Access, VBA, and SQL is an advantage
• Experience with data analysis, data optimisation, and data cleansing
• Proficiency with Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx or similar BI tools
• Knowledge of trade finance products highly desirable
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Clear verbal and written presentation skills with the ability to explain complex information concisely, using visual aids
• Ability to document work logically and clearly in procedures
• Flexible and able to multitask, with a collaborative team mindset, respectful communication, honesty, integrity, high ethical standards, and open-mindedness towards change
• Business level of English
• Some understanding of Japanese culture and Japanese language would be advantageous
