HotStats provides a unique profit and loss benchmarking service to hoteliers from across the globe, which enables monthly comparison of hotels’ performance against their competitors. It is distinguished by the fact that it provides in excess of 500 performance metric comparisons covering 70 areas of hotel revenue, cost, profit and statistics providing far deeper insight into the hotel operation than any other tool. The HotStats database currently totals over million hotel rooms worldwide; and HotStats is growing continuously.

HotStats also provides a suite of market intelligence reports to support developers’ and investors’ decisions in the industry.

HotStats has developed management information tools for the hospitality sector. And its tools are unlike any other.

The Role:

Working within the HotStats operations department you will be part of a multi-disciplined team. Despite the constant need for integrated team-working, yours will be a pivotal role in supporting the rapid development of HotStats and the spin-off services that it provides to the hotels sector.

This position will combine well developed administration skills with a strong IT technical capability. The successful candidate will need to:

  • Have a working knowledge of accounting or relevant industry operational experience.
  • Be able to read, understand and interrogate an hotels profit and loss results.
  • Demonstrate a sound technical knowledge of Excel spreadsheet functionality plus an understanding of how databases work. Application training will be given.
  • Have the ability significantly to develop their capability in each of these areas with appropriate training.
  • Have excellent skills in both written and verbal communication.

Job Functions and Tasks -

The HotStats Database

Your primary role will be proactively maintaining the quality of the contents of the HotStats database and looking after your own assigned contributing companies. Building relationships with your data contacts and responding to customer requests and queries

Data Maintenance Functions

Monthly:

  • Integrity checking the monthly HotStats performance data upon receipt using a combination of standard quality check routines and a programme of spot checks.
  • Processing P&L data though a variety of translation tools and accepting it into the database.
  • Update and maintenance of hotels status, alerts, and notes in the hotels database

Ongoing:

  • Undertaking data quality audits and spot checks consistently
  • Helping to ensure that HotStats complies with the Uniform System of Accounts
  • Liaising with customers in sorting out data quality issues and queries

Reporting Functions

Monthly:

  • Assisting in the production of the monthly suite of reporting
  • Running PR data, market data and bespoke reporting
  • Quality checking the reporting.

As Required:

  • Preparing hotel market performance reports which are sold to external, or third-party clients.

Data mining and analysis

  • Undertaking data analysis in support of specific assignments, research projects or presentations
  • Undertaking original research for PR work or other publications
