About the role

Benefact Group are looking for aCloud Infrastructure Engineerto join ourGloucesterbased team.

We are on a transformation journey to migrate away from more traditional monolithic Insurance platforms and on-premises solutions to a cloud based eco-system approach. As we begin our migration, we are looking for a proven Cloud Engineer that can work as part of the infrastructure team and alongside the DevOps team to help drive direction and help facilitate different ways of working and technologies. It's a great opportunity to join at a pivotal time where you can have a real impact in both the short and long term as well as being involved in the development of global Groupwide capability.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and deployment of scalable, resilient and secure cloud infrastructure solutions ensuring optimised performance, reliability and scalability.
  • Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations for adoption based on business needs and industry best practices.
  • Work with cloud platforms (Azure & AWS) to design and deploy cloud-based solutions.
  • Implement and manage virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.) to support dynamic workload requirements.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform.
  • Develop and maintain automated deployment and configuration management processes using tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform.
  • Automate where possible to avoid repetition using (preferably PowerShell).
  • Mentor engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Security, etc.) to align infrastructure with business goals.
  • Horizon scanning, implementing new technologies to drive efficiency e.g. Machine Learning

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Experience with architecture, design, configuration, and deployment within the Microsoft Azure platform.
  • Experience with IAC tools - preferably Azure Bicep, Terraform and Packer.
  • Experience with Microsoft Operating Systems and Tools.
  • Proficiency with PowerShell.
  • An understanding of the Agile SCRUM framework.
  • Experience in an engineering role.
  • Experience with security monitoring and improving security posture.
  • Understanding of network topologies and firewalls.
  • Knowledge of security best practices in infrastructure, application, IAM, or data platform solutions.
  • Must possess strong troubleshooting abilities to get to the source of problems and think critically about possible solutions.
  • Experience building and supporting Azure SQL Database.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work alongside leaders within our organization.
  • Azure based Certification Associate or above (ideally)
