Contract: Permanent
Salary: c£25,000 - £30,000 p/a depending on experience
Location: Hybrid - 50% home and 50% office based at either Willenhall (West Midlands) or Talbot Green (South Wales)
Hours: Monday - Friday 9am-5pm (Some flexibility is possible, if pre-agreed)
We have an exciting new opportunity to join our growing SPAR Pricing Team as a Category Pricing Analyst, working within our Proposition Department. We’re after someone who is proactive, motivated and passionate about their role, whilst offering excellent service and standards to our customers.
Responsible for your own categories, you will work closely with our SPAR trading team to ensure your category’s application of our pricing strategy. While supporting the Pricing Manager in the development & deployment of our pricing strategy across our business divisions.
You will be a data expert, using data from multiple sources to; model the impact of proposed pricing activity, give clarity on our pricing position against the market whilst monitoring the impact of price changes on sales & profitability. Using this data to identify opportunities increase sales & margin though price change or optimisations to price rule sets.
Key Accountabilities

  • Maintenance of our pricing tool, ensuring accuracy & stability of data.
  • Use competitor pricing data to give a clear and concise overview of our current position & customers perception of price.
  • Ongoing analysis of sales & margin performance, using credible insights & data to make recommendations, highlighting opportunities and potential problem areas for the business.
  • Understand the impact of price changes on customer, performance & wider business metrics.
  • Analyse promotional activity in your categories, using learnings to develop & refine future activity.
  • Understand our customers behaviours to drive consumer led thinking and decision making within the business.
  • Support stakeholders across the business as the ‘Go To’ expert for all pricing matters in your area.
    Some Key requirements
  • Ideal candidate will have experience in a similar pricing role with experience handling and interpreting complex data sets into actionable insights
  • Previous experience in a retail business, multi-channel exposure is a benefit
  • Experience using Power BI is desirable
  • Advanced user of Excel
  • Strong analytical skillset & commercially aware
  • Strong communicator
  • Good problem solver, willing to look for new ways of working to improve output & overcome challenges
