Staff Engineer Data Engineer

This is a high-impact Staff Engineer role where you will unify complex data systems and shape the future of AI-driven analytics within a global media technology environment. You will operate as a senior technical leader, influencing architecture, scaling data platforms, and driving real-world AI integration across multiple products.

The Role
You will act as a senior individual contributor owning cross-platform data architecture and helping bring together multiple technical ecosystems.

  • Define and evolve data architecture across multiple platforms, ensuring scalability and consistency
  • Lead integration of data systems across different product lines and technical stacks
  • Drive the development of AI and machine learning capabilities, including LLM-powered features
  • Build and optimise data pipelines across streaming and batch environments using tools such as Kafka and Spark
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and ML teams to deliver scalable solutions
  • Establish best practices across data modelling, pipelines, and observability
  • Mentor engineers and raise the overall technical bar across teams
  • Contribute hands-on to production systems and participate in oncall rotations

Your Skills and Experience

  • Strong commercial experience in data engineering or data architecture within complex environments
  • Expertise in Python and experience building scalable data pipelines
  • Experience with Kafka and modern data platforms such as Snowflake or similar
  • Proven experience working across multiple systems or product environments
  • Hands-on experience integrating AI or machine learning into production systems
  • Strong understanding of large scale data architecture, modelling, and pipeline design
  • Ability to communicate architectural decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience mentoring or influencing engineering teams
