Platform Engineer
London, Hybrid (3 days on-site)
Up to £150,000 + Equity + Benefits

This is a rare opportunity to join an early-stage, high-calibre team building in one of the most exciting areas of the AI ecosystem. The business is tackling a complex and emerging market, creating a platform that brings greater transparency and efficiency to infrastructure powering modern AI systems. You will play a critical role in shaping both the platform and the engineering culture from the ground up.

The Company
They are a well-funded, early-stage technology business operating at the intersection of AI infrastructure and financial markets. Backed by leading investors and led by a highly experienced founding team, they are focused on building a new category of platform within a rapidly growing space. The team combines expertise across engineering, data science, and trading, with a strong track record of building and scaling successful products. This is a pivotal growth phase as they expand both their product and technical capabilities.

The Role
You will be the first dedicated Platform Engineer, working closely with the founding team to design and deliver the core platform. This is a hands-on role with significant ownership and influence over technical direction.

  • Design, build, and maintain a scalable trading platform on Google Cloud Platform
  • Own and optimise deployment processes for reliability and performance
  • Develop and manage services running within Kubernetes environments
  • Build and scale infrastructure using Terraform and infrastructure-as-code principles
  • Contribute to backend development using Python and PostgreSQL
  • Collaborate with founders and data teams to solve complex technical challenges
  • Help shape technical strategy and influence future hiring and engineering standards

Your Skills & Experience

  • Strong commercial experience building and scaling distributed systems in production
  • Deep knowledge of cloud platforms, ideally GCP, alongside Kubernetes and Terraform
  • Expertise in backend engineering using Python and relational databases such as PostgreSQL
  • Experience implementing robust deployment and CI/CD pipelines
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with a high level of ownership
  • A mindset focused on impact, problem-solving, and continuous learning
  • Exposure to trading systems, financial platforms, or regulated environments is beneficial but not required
  • Interest in leveraging modern AI development tools to improve productivity

What They Offer

  • Up to £150,000 base salary
  • Equity package with strong long-term upside
  • Hybrid working model based in a central London office
  • Opportunity to work directly with an experienced founding team
  • Significant scope to shape the platform, product, and engineering direction
  • Clear progression as the company scales and builds out its engineering function

Where to Advertise Machine Learning Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise machine learning jobs UK in 2026: the specialist boards and communities that reach ML, MLOps and deep learning engineering talent. The candidate pool is small, highly specialised and in demand across AI labs, financial services, healthcare, autonomous systems and consumer technology simultaneously. Machine learning engineers and researchers move between roles through professional networks, conference communities and specialist platforms — not general job boards where ML roles compete with unrelated software engineering positions for the same audience. This guide, published by MachineLearningJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise machine learning roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.
