The Opportunity

As a Senior GL Accountant, you will serve as a strategic contributor within our team, driving the Finance Operations engine to deliver world-class month-end results. You won’t just work with numbers; you will contribute to the financial narrative for a key line of business . From supporting half-year and year-end audits to safeguarding our integrity through robust group controls, your role is central to our fiscal health. We are looking for a visionary who sees beyond the ledger—someone eager to hunt down process improvements, champion continuous innovation, and take pride in working in a high-performing team.

Requirements

  • Submit transactional postings for review and approval to support closure of the financial books (journal postings/processing, adjustments, allocations and transfers)
  • Substantiate account/general ledger balance reconciliations
  • Perform and report on ongoing and monthly accounting transactional activities including journal and allocation processing, BS recs and review, period close and related reporting
  • Work to the general ledger close timelines
  • Support the presentation of monthly financial results to key stakeholders, including understanding of the budget/forecast and key movements
  • Ensuring balance sheet reconciliations have been completed to an excellent standard, in a timely manner and have been subjected to a robust review process
  • Support half-year and year-end process and ensuring audit requests are dealt with swiftly
  • Raise issues with senior management and helping resolve them
  • Ensure Group accounting policies and practices are implemented and adhered to
  • Proactively identify problems and opportunities to standardise, streamline/improve processes
  • Support the management team to drive process governance and measure process effectiveness
  • Provision of accurate numbers for all disclosures in the annual report and statutory accounts
  • Work with and supporting the GL Team Lead and Finance Manager to improve the service offering
  • Seek continuous improvement and constantly challenge self to maintain the highest of standards

Essential Criteria

  • Financial qualification - Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant field
  • Experience in a similar accounting role at least 1 year
  • An understanding of core financial processes and relevant systems
  • Knowledge of accounting, tax and reporting standards & principles
  • Experience in a fast-paced similar sized environment
  • Experience in delivering great customer / user experience
  • Ability to set and achieve stretch goals prioritise tasks and work closely with colleagues
  • Ability to complete work to a high standard whilst identifying opportunities for further improvement
  • Mindset to own and drive their development plans: to improve their technical and soft skills and their understanding of the business
  • Strong attention to detail; able to provide accurate and timely data/reporting
  • Adaptability to change and positive mindset
  • Ability to build trusted relationships
