At Oxa, we're building the future of Industrial Mobile Autonomy (IMA) and are in the market for new talent.

Oxa’s customers are the operators of some of the world's largest industrial facilities. Our technology transforms existing industrial vehicles into intelligent autonomous fleets, unlocking new levels of productivity, safety, and performance.

‘The phone in your hand, the coffee on your desk, the shirt on your back - they all moved through a web of ports (air and sea), distribution yards and manufacturing hubs. This is the invisible circulatory system of global trade, and it relies entirely on a relentless, repetitive shuffle of goods. Towing.

This towing task happens in complex, commerce-critical industrial environments. Here, having self driving technology “do the driving” delivers immediate, measurable impact. IMA will revolutionise the movement of goods across the world's ports, airports, and yards.

You can be part of that as an Oxbot’

‘Paul Newman - Founder and CEO’

Our Products:

Our products are built on four core technology pillars which come together to build a complete system:

Oxa Ware –Our modular autonomy hardware systems for consistent and repeatable integration of autonomy with existing vehicles.

Oxa Driver –Our Physical AI, embodied in Oxa Ware, self-driving software that enables vehicles to perceive, reason, and drive autonomously in complex real-world environments.

Oxa Foundry –Our development toolchain that leverages generative AI to continuously train and assure Oxa Driver, synthesising situations and sensor data.

Oxa Hub –Our suite of cloud services for monitoring, managing and orchestrating fleets driven by Oxa Driver, including an API for integration with existing logistics systems.

Behind these technologies is our exceptional team, the Oxbots. We are home to some of the world's leading experts in autonomous systems, robotics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, cloud infrastructure, and distributed software engineering. Together, we're solving some of the hardest technical challenges in autonomy, turning the research and development we do into production and deploying it into environments. Making robots do useful work.

Your Team:

You'll join the Over-the-Air and Configuration (OTAC) team, which gets software and configuration efficiently from our cloud onto every vehicle in the fleet. Every release of Oxa Driver, and every configuration change behind it, reaches a vehicle through systems this team builds and runs.

This is a full-stack role with its centre of gravity in the back end and on Linux. Most of the hard problems here aren't in the UI: they're in making distributed systems talk to each other reliably. Think vehicles on complex networks, reliable updates that must never leave a vehicle half-installed, state that has to stay in sync between cloud and edge, and security that holds up end to end between Oxa infrastructure and vehicles operating in the field.

We use AI tooling heavily, so the front-end work moves fast. What we need most is an engineer who wants to understand how the whole system works, from the GCP services and APIs down to the Linux stack running on the vehicle.

Your Responsibilities:

  • OTA and configuration platform: design, build and run the back-end services, primarily in Python, that deliver software and configuration to our vehicle fleet.

  • Cloud-to-vehicle systems: solve the hard integration problems between cloud and edge, including syncing, timing, intermittent connectivity and safe rollback.

  • Linux and on-vehicle software: work close to the Linux stack on our vehicles, understanding how updates land, how services behave and how to diagnose them when they don't.

  • Infrastructure and deployment: own cloud infrastructure on GCP and fleet deployment tooling built on Terraform and Mender, with robust CI/CD behind it.

  • Security: help ensure every update is authenticated, auditable and resilient, as the fleet scales across customer sites.

  • Full-stack delivery: build the APIs and web tools that operators and engineers use to manage releases, using AI-assisted development to move quickly on the front end.

  • Technical leadership: shape the team's technical strategy, spot gaps early and drive engineering best practice across OTAC.

  • Mentorship: support and grow the engineers around you and raise the bar for the whole team.

Requirements:

  • A track record of solving genuinely difficult engineering problems, and the ability to explain how you approached them.

  • Strong back-end engineering skills, with deep expertise in Python and in designing ergonomic APIs and scalable services.

  • Solid Linux and systems knowledge: you're comfortable below the application layer, with networking, processes, packaging and debugging.

  • Experience with distributed systems where components must stay in sync, such as complex apps with real timing or consistency problems between client and server.

  • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (ideally GCP), infrastructure as code (ideally Terraform) and modern CI/CD.

  • Enough full-stack ability to build and ship the web tools around your services, and comfort using agentic tools such as Claude Code or Gemini to do it.

  • Clear communication: you can turn complex technical risk into precise guidance for leadership and peers.

We care more about how you think than where you started. Good engineering thinking shows up in many fields, and we’re open to people from all of them. An undergraduate degree (BEng/MEng/MSc) is welcome and equivalent professional experience also counts.

Extra kudos if you have:

  • Experience with OTA update systems (such as Mender), embedded Linux or device fleet management.

  • Experience working alongside robotics, autonomy or other complex hardware-driven systems.

  • Security experience, such as secure software delivery, incident response or recovery work.

  • Experience leading technical decisions.

  • Experience with large migrations or data pipelines where correctness really mattered.

  • Familiarity with TypeScript, Node.js and React, or with real-time dashboards and monitoring tools.

  • A curiosity that shows outside work: a home lab, self-hosted services, robotics projects or anything else where you've taken a system apart to see how it works

Your Interview Experience:

Our interview process is designed to give you every chance to get the measure of us, and us of you. You will join three stages which will give you every opportunity to show your strengths and qualities, via scenario based questions and technical exercises.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary benchmarked against the market

  • Participation in a great company equity scheme

  • Enhanced pension contributions

  • Annual holiday allowance of 25 days per year

  • Overseas working policy for up to 8 weeks per year

  • Flexible, hybrid and remote working arrangements

  • Comprehensive Private Health cover with the option to add family members,

  • Enhanced health and wellbeing benefits including health cash plan, critical illness cover, life assurance and group income protection

  • Enhanced paid maternity and paternity policy

If you're excited by deep technical problems, real-world AI, and the opportunity to build technology that will reshape global industry, you'll find both the challenge and the impact you're looking for at Oxa.
