This role operates primarily on a remote working arrangement that will require little to no travel. Our working model arrangements are a non-contractual benefit so please note that an Arden work location is added to our employment contracts.

The Analysis, Insights & Performance department at Arden University plays a vital role in driving data-driven decisions. By providing valuable insights, monitoring performance, and promoting innovation, the team supports the university's mission to enhance student outcomes and drive continuous improvement.

About the Opportunity:

As a Data Engineer within the data practice at Arden University you willdevelop,optimise, and oversee our analytics data architecture, tools, and pipelines.
You will engineer solutions that allow for the efficient and reliable handling of
large scales of data, enabling data-driven decision making across our university.

You will workclosely with data scientists, analysts, and our business teams to ensure data flows seamlesslythrough the organisation and is accessible for analytical purposes.
As a data engineer, you will be designing and implementing scalable data models, cleaningand validating data for accuracy and completeness, setting up datawarehousing solutions,and automating data processing and integration tasks.

Your goal is to ensure that our datainfrastructure supports our analytics and data science initiatives, empowering Arden toextract valuable insights from complex data in a secure and compliant manner.

About You:

Essential requirements:

  • Strong stakeholder managementskills and communication, including the ability to translate technical concepts.
  • Experience with one or moreprogramming languages such asPython, R, and SQL.
  • An understanding of databasetheory and design.
  • Experience withSQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with big datatechnologies and ecosystems suchas MicrosoftSynapse/Fabric,Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and others.
  • Skills in data modelling and datawarehousing solutions.
  • Experienceof dimensional modelling (Kimball).
  • Proven Experience in designing and developing ETL /ELT processes.
  • Knowledge of data pipeline toolssuch as Data Factory, Airflow, andNiFi.
  • Knowledge of version controlsystems such as Git.
  • Ability to analyse problems anddesign better solutions.
  • A familiarity with agile projectmanagement processes such asScrum

Desirable requirements:

  • Formal Data & Analyticsqualification e.g. CertifiedAnalytics Professional (CAP),
    Azure DataEngineer/Scientist Associate
  • Experience in the use ofdata and analytics toolingwithin Microsoft Azure.
  • Knowledge of machinelearning algorithms and datascience techniques.
