Job Description

Reporting into the Chief Sustainability Officer, the Net Zero Delivery Manager is responsible for developing and leading WSH Net Zero transition program and the Step up action group, in line with WSH Second Nature strategy and agenda, to ensure we meet our Net zero targets. This includes developing and reviewing the mid- and long-term transition plan and translating it into short term action plans, in close collaboration with and, to the benefits and expectations of our operating companies. You will be required to review and deploy relevant toolkits for implementation and delivery by operating companies as well as in client locations, working collaboratively with the WSH Sustainability team. As Net Zero Delivery Manager, you are also responsible for calculating our annual WSH aggregated and business specific corporate carbon footprint and carbon budgets, and take a data led approach to ensuring the transition plan is fit for purpose, supported by an ESG Data analyst.

Strategy

  • Responsible for developing and leading the delivery of WSH Decarbonisation & Nature positive strategy and initiatives, to ensure we meet our target of net zero across the value chain by 2040, using a data first led approach including robust reporting mechanisms.
  • Brief and support translation of the WSH decarbonization strategy into business specific decarbonization plans, working closely with internal stakeholders across our operating businesses, inside and outside of the UK

Environmental reporting and analytics

  • Lead on the calculation of the annual corporate carbon footprint (CCF), aggregated as well as by business, in line with external standards and expectations such as the GHG protocol and SBTi. Responsible for producing, using and sharing relevant carbon analytics to support the decarbonization plan. Review and update interim and carbon budget targets, ensuring short term plans reflect and support the long term goals.
  • Lead on ensuring timely external environmental auditing and reporting, whether statutory or voluntary, including upholding relevant accreditations and certifications.
  • Support colleagues in the delivery of reports related to net zero targets and carbon reduction initiatives.

Implementation

  • Lead the Step up working group to ensure operational input, buy in and execution.
  • Lead on developing best practices, guides and toolkits to support delivery and implementation of key initiatives including but not limited to Energy efficiency, Green travel, Carbon optimized menus, Low impact material usage, Circularity and Responsible material and packaging usage and Food Waste.
  • Lead development and delivery of environmental policies and procedures and internal training modules.
  • Lead environmental onboarding and integration of existing and new businesses.
  • Support WSH Supplier Engagement Program to drive supply chain transition in line with best practice.
  • Working closely with Business partner leads to identify both opportunities and challenges in setting plans and targets within operating businesses.

Other

  • Keep up to date on key developments in environmental sustainability including regulatory.
  • Represent WSH externally in relevant environmental and net zero forums.
  • Lead or partake in key WSH projects.


Qualifications

What we want from you:

  • Previous experience of developing and implementing net zero plans and initiatives, preferably within a multi-site, -brand or -market context
  • A relevant degree in an Environmental subject or relevant equivalent experience
  • Good understanding of relevant environmental standards and frameworks such as the GHG protocol, SBTi, CDP, ESOS, EED, ISO 14001, ISO 5001 and others
  • Ideally experience from using an ESG/Environmental data reporting tool (SaaS)
  • Demonstrate experience in developing a multi-year, multifaceted plan broken down by clear milestones and deliverables
  • Able to make sense of and simplify complex information and tell a compelling story through data analysis
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collate, organise, analyse and distribute significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Action-oriented and outcome driven
  • Great project management skills, ability to hold others to account and enthusiasm
  • Able to manage own time and workload
