HS Marston has an exciting opportunity for aThermal Engineerto join our Engineering Department. The company is developing the next generation of high performance and unique innovative heat exchangers. Significant emphasis will be placed on simulation and as such HS Marston is looking for someone with a strong analytical / numerical background. Software coding and CFD flow analysis would be beneficial. You should have some industrial experience in a related field and a natural curiosity and eagerness to solve complex engineering problems related to flow and heat transfer enhancement.

What You Will Do:

  • Create heat exchanger concepts through 1D simulation that meet requirements set out by the aircraft engine and airframe manufacturers
  • Use Star CCM+ CFD software to simulate 3D flow
  • Apply principles of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics in calculations
  • Liaise with multiple departments to support heat exchanger production and contribute to improvement studies
  • Work with Test Engineers to perform validation measurements
  • Contribute to development of best practices
  • Create patents through R&D and strengthen links with internal and external organisations and Universities
  • Work closely with customers and stakeholders to present analyses and designs within a timely manner
  • Lead and manage technical engagements, meetings and collaborations


Requirements:

  • Education- Minimum Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Maths / Physics
  • Computer Literacy- Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Experience programming in MATLAB or Python with experience in CFD modelling of conjugate heat transfer in Star CCM+ would be beneficial.
  • Other Skills- Must have strong analytical and numeracy skills, good communication (verbal/ written) with the ability to work independently as well as in a team. Knowledge of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics are essential. Experience using CAD packages such as Siemens NX and/or other commercial CAD tools would be beneficial.

This position will involve access to export-controlled information and hardware where an export license would be required for compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
