Job Overview 

Following the acquisition of Tessian by Proofpoint and having found exceptional product/market fit for our category-defining Human Layer Security software platform, we’re in the midst of transformation and growth and are looking for an experienced Engineer or tech lead to join the Tessian Business Unit of Proofpoint.

You’ll be helping us evolve and improve our “human centric security” platform by leading the technical strategy for the team responsible for checking for threat signals on our customers' emails. This is done using a variety of techniques including machine learning and LLM’s.

Our stack is predominantly python based, using a variety of datastores and runs in AWS.

Responsibilities and Duties 

Partner with product to help define and refine the team’s roadmap  Work with a cross functional team of Data Scientists, Backend & Frontend Engineers, Product Managers, and Product Designers and lead on cross-team & cross functional relationships the team needs for success. Responsible for technical delivery of their team e.g. ensuring proposals and deliveries use appropriate technologies, that PRs are getting the attention they need, and upskilling their teams.  Support and help the development of the team, this could be through regular 1-1s, coaching on particular points or working closely to help deliver projects.  Work closely with the team’s Engineering Manager to support them and provide a more technical perspective. Support the Engineering Manager with understanding the performance, development opportunities and promotion potential of members of the team.  Be a leader and champion for the technical and operational aspects of the team's stack including driving technical initiatives to improve them. Think strategically about the team’s domain and drive technical initiatives towards this Design and build reliable distributed systems that handle high volumes of data with low latency 

Qualifications/Experience

Experienced Software Engineer  Team lead experience or technical leadership (line management experience not required)  Has deep understanding of cloud technologies Enjoys collaboration and working with others  Can construct good arguments for methodologies and best practices
