What’s the position?

We’re looking for a Staff Mobile Engineer who will bring their creativity and experience to Hard Rock Bet to help us build software with a spark of magic. This is a role that works closely with Product Management, Design, QA, and Backend Engineering to deliver a full-featured mobile app. The candidate should have a strong track record developing React Native apps, as well as experience with iOS and/or Android apps, preferably with a background in sportsbook, gaming, or a related industry.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate within an agile, cross-functional team to deliver a seamless platform experience across multiple platforms.
  • Develop a high-performance mobile application in React Native for iOS and Android, serving tens of thousands of daily users.
  • Expertly break down features into detailed requirements, provide accurate time estimates, and create comprehensive test procedures.
  • Navigate the challenges of working in a highly regulated industry, ensuring compliance and stability.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to continuously evolve and enhance the mobile application.
  • Work closely with the team to develop robust backend APIs that support both iOS and Android mobile platforms.
  • Advocate for best practices in testing, code reviews, and continuous integration, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, stable code.
  • Prioritize the end user’s experience, consistently improving performance through iterative development.
  • Implement comprehensive analytics throughout the application and analyze results to drive data-informed improvements.
  • Serve as the go-to person for planning and executing complex or challenging assignments.
  • Lead troubleshooting discussions, asking insightful questions and quickly analyzing critical factors.
  • Influence the strategic direction of the organization, particularly within the domain of expertise.
  • Employ state-of-the-art technologies and strategies to optimize content delivery and application performance.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an engineer who is willing to tackle problems with innovative ideas and quality technical implementations. We believe the perfect candidate isn’t interested in just what we’re building right now, but wants to understand where we’re going and how it impacts the customer to ensure everything we create moves us closer to our goal: delivering the best customer experience.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 7+ years of experience in developing mobile applications (native and hybrid).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with React Native development.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Proficient in state management, with a strong focus on MobX.
  • Extensive experience with RESTful services, WebSockets, and GraphQL.
  • Prior experience in native Android and iOS development using Java, Objective-C, and/or Swift.
  • Prior experience in igaming industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the mobile development lifecycle, including application architecture, device and OS APIs, debugging, performance optimization, security, and deployment.
  • Deep understanding of client-server architecture in mobile environments, with proven architectural skills.
  • Experience with continuous integration and delivery, particularly with Apple and Google App Stores.
  • Expertise in utilizing and integrating mobile features such as Push Notifications, Background Loading, and Offline Content Storage.
  • Contagious and positive work ethic, inspiring others to adopt the same approach.
  • Proactively assist co-workers in overcoming obstacles and troubleshooting issues.
