As a Staff Data Scientist in Spotify’s PlatformMission, you will play a critical role in driving data-informeddecisions for our platform infrastructure. You will developactionable research, identify improvement opportunities, andinfluence the evolution of Spotify’s foundational infrastructure.You will primarily (but not exclusively) focus on Spotify’splatforms for data and security. Collaborating withcross-functional teams, you will ensure that our platforms areefficient, scalable, and aligned with user and organizationalneeds. This is an opportunity to work on some of the most complextechnical challenges at Spotify, leveraging effective andactionable data science. What Youll Do * Analyze large datasets toidentify bottlenecks and propose actionable solutions to improveplatform performance. * Develop recommendations to optimizeSpotify’s platform performance, reliability, and scalability. *Collaborate with engineering and product teams to integrate datascience insights into the development of Spotify’s platforms. *Define and measure key performance metrics for platformreliability, scalability, and efficiency. * Partner with leadershipto identify high-impact opportunities and prioritize data scienceprojects that drive platform innovation. * Serve as a leader andtrusted advisor for data science applications in platformdevelopment. * Communicate complex technical findings to diversestakeholders, including executives and non-technical teams. *Provide technical mentorship to data scientists and analysts withinthe team. * Advocate for best practices in data science, includingreproducibility, and ethical AI considerations. * Explorecutting-edge technologies and methodologies to enhance Spotify’splatform capabilities. * Stay informed on trends in data science,distributed systems, and cloud computing to influence the company’slong-term platform strategy. Who You Are * Master’s or Ph.D. inData Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a similar field. *8+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, orapplied statistics, with a focus on large-scale systems orinfrastructure. * Proficiency in relevant tools such as Python, R,or BigQuery, and experience with distributed computing. * Comfortwith machine learning frameworks and statistical modelingtechniques. * Outstanding problem-solving skills with the abilityto tackle ambiguous technical challenges. * Strong communicationand presentation skills, with an emphasis on storytelling withdata. Leadership and collaboration skills, with a proven ability toinfluence cross-functional teams. * Preferred qualifications: deepunderstanding of platform infrastructure (including distributedsystems, cloud platforms, and SRE principles), proven track recordof deploying data science solutions in production environments atscale, experience working with time-series data, anomaly detection,and forecasting in operational systems, familiarity with GoogleCloud Platform (GCP).
