As a Software Engineer Graduate will be given the opportunity to learn multiple skills within the engineering team covering front end through to back end across 4 different teams. The programme is designed to expose you to the core parts of the Engineering teams making sure that you are successfully trained to apply modern best practices to deliver quality user experiences to support The Telegraphs subscription strategy. You will have the opportunity to learn, or further develop skills that you may already have in Java/Javascript/CSS/HTML & Cloud Computing as well as gain exposure to AI and machine learning.
What to expect from each team:
- In the Platforms team you will work on building high-traffic, scalable software APIs using Cloud Computing practices. You will get a full understanding of the entire Software Development lifecycle with an in depth focus in Backend development architecture using OOP techniques and principles in Java and Python.
- In the Newsroom team you will work with Backend and Frontend projects oriented to the framework used by our Editorial team. You will get the opportunity to learn some of the programming languages used within the team which include Java, JavaScript and other frontend frameworks like NodeJs and ReactNative.
- In the Web team you will work on the latest technology CMS state of the art and integrate it with our award-winning website to create a unique customer experience for our readers, using Java and JavaScript programming language.
- In the Data team you will work on implementing complex data pipelines and APIs using Cloud Computing best practice to establish trustful data integrations across all sources.
Requirements
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

- A flexible working attitude
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
- Please note that this scheme is not open to established Software Engineer professionals.

The assessment centre will be conducted on Friday 7 March and you may be invited to complete pre-assessments beforehand. The successful candidates will join the team in September, 2025.
