We are seeking a skilled and passionateSenior Python Engineerto join our growing Transaction Monitoring technology team. In this critical role, you will leverage your expertise in complex, data-centric applications to develop strategic products that mitigate business risk and ensure compliance with financial regulations.

This is your chance to develop complex business controls and data pipelines, integrating them seamlessly with internal & external systems. You'll collaborate closely with data scientists and business stakeholders, acting as a bridge between technical execution and business needs. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement data-centric applications and distributed data pipelines in Python to detect potential market abuse.
  • Drive the architectural evolution of our 1LOD Transaction Monitoring systems, focusing on hosting, scheduling, and inter-dependency of data pipelines and services.
  • Mentor junior team members, fostering their technical growth.
  • Build ETL layers to integrate emerging data sources.
  • Champion high development standards, emphasizing code quality, reviews, unit testing, and CI/CD.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust algorithms, data integrations, and quality checks.
  • Prioritise work effectively based on client and stakeholder needs.



Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience designing and implementing Python-based data pipelines and complex applications.
  • Expertise with Big Data technologies (Dask, Spark), Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform.
  • Strong SQL skills, experience with data warehousing and relational/NoSQL databases (Impala, Hive, Delta, Databricks, Postgres, Mongo).
  • Experience creating pipelines supporting ML/statistical algorithms and working with data scientists.
  • Familiarity with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and DevOps practices, including CI/CD, monitoring, and log aggregation tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • A passion for delivering impactful solutions and driving innovation.



Education

Degree educated (Master's preferred) or experience operating in a similar role
