Join the Genie Community - the legal knowledge sharing community open sourcing and automating legal contract drafting.

  • Become an early adopter in the AI design space

  • Have the autonomy to bring your role to life within a really interesting problem space: the intersection of Legaltech and AI

  • Push the boundaries of innovation and creativity with the full support of the business

Your purpose in our mission

We’ve raised $17.8 million in Series A funding led by Google Ventures and joined by Khosla Ventures. They believe in our vision that the law should be accessible to everyone. We need your skills to multiply the number of user problems we’re able to research and apply design thinking to.

Your manager and team

Our org structure is made up of pods with distinct areas of focus to keep us all working on the most impactful things for our customers all of the time. Some of our team members work across multiple pods. Our structure was conceived with impact, autonomy and velocity in mind and we'd love to share more with you throughout our interview process. You’ll be managed by Rosie - Lead Product Designer, and your teammate in this small and impactful Design team is Mayse - UX/UI Designer. They’re powered by data and feedback, and choose iteration over perfection.

This is what you’ll be doing

As a Senior Product Designer at Genie AI you’ll get the chance to immerse yourself within the world of law, legal contracts and AI at a start-up that is genuinely design-lead. We’re big enough to disrupt the legaltech industry, but small enough that you can make a massive impact on the team. Some of your key day to day duties will include:

  • User research:Speaking to lawyers, founders, business people in-depth to understand their world, their workflows and their needs

  • User testing: Moderated, unmoderated, big, small - every piece of work needs a different type of testing

  • AI R&D:Work with our machine learning scientists to dream up, prototype and test our cutting-edge AI capabilities

  • Product strategy:Find & prioritise user problems, collaborating closely with our PMs and also working independently

  • UI & UX design:Using good design to instil trust in lawyers about using new technology

  • Data analysis:Genie has a wealth of quantitative data in Mixpanel and Hotjar

  • Prototyping:No two prototypes are the same - you will apply good intuition for the right level of fidelity to answer your research questions

This is how we’ll set you up for success and the outcomes we expect from you

Over your first 90 days you can expect us to help point you in the right direction to set you up for success. During the interview process we can talk you through a high level overview of your 90 day plan.

By the end of your first six months we expect you to be:

  • Expertly managing your own design areas

  • Contributing to company strategy

  • Starting to see the impact of your design work

We’ll continually develop and measure success on the below criteria:

  • User-facing Metric:
    • Increase in Monthly Active Users: Choosing the right problems to solve and solving them in the right way will help increase our user base

  • Genie-facing Metrics:
    • Level of collaboration between Product Design and the rest of Genie

    • Visibility of Product Design work to the rest of Genie

We are a start up in an exceptionally dynamic stage of our growth. We are a customer and employee led organisation. What this means is that we adapt to our customers' needs, and the problems we’re solving today could be very different in six months, or even by the end of this recruitment process. We also listen to our team as we empower you to have full autonomy of your role - you're the expert. You should expect to work with us on how your role develops, grows and changes throughout your time at Genie.

It can be tough here because

  • We don’t structure your work for you. We give you thewhatand you come up with the how

  • We don’t try to get things perfect the first time. We get things to good enough, and then we continuously iterate

  • This is a generalist design role - we need you to be good at a lot of design areas rather than specialising in one

But we think you’ll love

  • The autonomy and trust we give you to deliver your best work

  • Learning from some of the brightest minds in the field of AI

  • The exhilaration of a fast pace start up

The skills you need to succeed in this role

We’re looking for a generalist who is strong in the below areas:

  • User research

  • User testing

  • Product strategy

  • Prioritisation

  • UI and UX design

  • Data analysis (quantitative and qualitative)

  • Prototyping

  • Storytelling

(Don’t worry about ticking every single box on the list to be considered for this role.)

Unleash your magic: our interview process

  • Step 1:Meet our Talent Acquisition Specialist, Corina, to assess your motivations and baseline skills

  • Step 2:Complete our take home task

  • Step 3:Live technical task with Rosie, our Lead Product Designer, and Nitish, our Co-Founder and CTO

  • Step 4:Culture interview with Mayse, our UX/UI Designer, and Alex, our Lead Frontend Engineer

We can’t wait to meet you! Bring your authentic self, and get ready to explore our culture, team events, and big mission. We're excited to discover what makes you and us unique.

Contract vs Permanent Machine Learning Jobs: Which Pays Better in 2025?

Machine learning (ML) has swiftly become one of the most transformative forces in the UK technology landscape. From conversational AI and autonomous vehicles to fraud detection and personalised recommendations, ML algorithms are reshaping how organisations operate and how consumers experience products and services. In response, job opportunities in machine learning—including roles in data science, MLOps, natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, and more—have risen dramatically. Yet, as the demand for ML expertise booms, professionals face a pivotal choice about how they want to work. Some choose day‑rate contracting, leveraging short-term projects for potentially higher immediate pay. Others embrace fixed-term contract (FTC) roles for mid-range stability, or permanent positions for comprehensive benefits and a well-defined career path. In this article, we will explore these different employment models, highlighting the pros and cons of each, offering sample take‑home pay scenarios, and providing insights into which path might pay better in 2025. Whether you’re a new graduate with a machine learning degree or an experienced practitioner pivoting into an ML-heavy role, understanding these options is key to making informed career decisions.

Machine‑Learning Jobs for Non‑Technical Professionals: Where Do You Fit In?

The Model Needs More Than Math When ChatGPT went viral and London start‑ups raised seed rounds around “foundation models,” many professionals asked, “Do I need to learn PyTorch to work in machine learning?” The answer is no. According to the Turing Institute’s UK ML Industry Survey 2024, 39 % of advertised ML roles focus on strategy, compliance, product or operations rather than writing code. As models move from proof‑of‑concept to production, demand surges for specialists who translate algorithms into business value, manage risk and drive adoption. This guide reveals the fastest‑growing non‑coding ML roles, the transferable skills you may already have, real transition stories and a 90‑day action plan—no gradient descent necessary.

Quantexa Machine‑Learning Jobs in 2025: Your Complete UK Guide to Joining the Decision‑Intelligence Revolution

Money‑laundering rings, sanctioned entities, synthetic identities—complex risks hide in plain sight inside data. Quantexa, a London‑born scale‑up now valued at US $2.2 bn (Series F, August 2024), solves that problem with contextual decision‑intelligence (DI): graph analytics, entity resolution and machine learning stitched into a single platform. Banks, insurers, telecoms and governments from HSBC to HMRC use Quantexa to spot fraud, combat financial crime and optimise customer engagement. With the launch of Quantexa AI Studio in February 2025—bringing generative AI co‑pilots and large‑scale Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) to the platform—the company is hiring at record pace. The Quantexa careers portal lists 450+ open roles worldwide, over 220 in the UK across data science, software engineering, ML Ops and client delivery. Whether you are a graduate data scientist fluent in Python, a Scala veteran who loves Spark or a solutions architect who can turn messy data into knowledge graphs, this guide explains how to land a Quantexa machine‑learning job in 2025.
