Senior Data Engineer

We are looking to recruit an experienced and analytical Senior Pricing Analyst to join our team. This role is crucial for driving our pricing strategy across direct and aggregator channels, enhancing product offerings, and ensuring competitive market positioning.

Established in 1983 and with over 40 years’ experience working across the insurance industry, the company aims to help its partners, including well-known household brands and high street retailers, such as John Lewis Partnership and Ticker Insurance to name a couple, to transform their insurance proposition by delivering innovative business models and products that enhance customer engagement and drive growth.


What will I do in the role?


  • Provide input into rate-setting and support incremental pricing activities to achieve business growth objectives.
  • Assist in developing new products and refining existing offerings, ensuring they meet market demands and align with strategic goals.
  • Conduct thorough market pricing analysis and competitor benchmarking to maintain and enhance our market position.
  • Utilise advanced statistical methods and machine learning techniques to develop and refine pricing models.
  • Collaborate with the deployment team to ensure accurate and timely rate changes.
  • Work closely with data and MI teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality data for strategic decision-making.
  • Analyse insights from management information systems to improve reporting frameworks and data visibility.
  • Present analytical findings to stakeholders, translating complex data into actionable business decisions.


What do I need?


  • Background in actuarial science or data science, with commercial experience preferably in personal lines insurance.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python, SQL, or R, and familiar with pricing software like Earnix, Akur8, or Radar Live.
  • Strong presentation and data visualisation skills using Python, Power BI, and Excel. Degree in Mathematics, Science, Engineering, or related field with a minimum 2:1 classification.
  • Experience in personal lines insurance, particularly pet or travel insurance. Actuarial exam progression or other relevant qualifications - desirable
