What we need

Symbotic is seeking an experienced construction Quality professional to oversee Site Quality inspection contingent resources at ongoing Symbotic installation project sites.

What we do

The Quality Team is part of the Manufacturing organization which is responsible for driving continuous improvement practices of our systems' performance. Our Quality Team ensures that the products and processes meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and reliability. Their primary focus is to maintain consistency in the production of robots and automated systems that meet customer requirements and comply with industry standards. The quality team collaborates closely with various departments to ensure that quality is integrated throughout the entire product development and manufacturing lifecycle.

What you'll do

  1. Responsible for selection, deployment & oversight of contingent Site Quality Inspection workforce.
  2. Manage Site Quality inspection resources in performing inspection, surveillance, and testing at assigned installation project sites.
  3. Ensure that Site Quality Training Program is adhered to by Site Quality Inspection resources.
  4. Develop and deploy an effective process for monitoring the Quality of site installation contractors and their ability to meet all installation project deliverables on time for form, fit, and function across the systems. Ensure project turn-over and feedback are executed in a timely and efficient manner.
  5. Maintain status of each site's QC efforts and adjust resource deployments as needed to ensure successful completion.
  6. Maintain site status reporting and performance metrics to help drive install contractor performance improvement.
  7. Provide input to drive continuous improvement efforts regarding SOPs, documentation & Install Contractor performance.
  8. Leverage internal and external resources to administer policies and procedures consistently across functions and locations.
  9. Work with Install Contractors to submit Requests for Information (RFI) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) as appropriate to ensure questions are resolved and defects addressed in a timely fashion.
  10. Provide feedback on tools and assets, including but not limited to policies, SOPs, checklists, Jigs and fixtures, to help improve site installation scalability while reducing Quality risk.
  11. Develop and maintain Quality project closeout files to ensure Quality activities are complete and records retained before demobilization.
  12. Deep collaboration across Supply Chain, EPC Partners, Ops Eng., and Manufacturing teams to identify quality strategies, gaps, and procedures to satisfy customer requirements.
  13. Utilize Six Sigma and Lean methods to drive quality and process improvements.
  14. Up to 75% based site & project needs.

What you'll need

  1. B.S. Degree in Engineering or equivalent education and work experience.
  2. Minimum of 10 years of construction quality and warehouse automation experience.
  3. Minimum of 5 years of direct management experience.
  4. Knowledge of industry quality systems, IPC standards, and RoHS.
  5. Working Knowledge of Quality Systems, quality process controls, material performance testing and has a solid understanding of Advanced Product Quality Planning.
  6. Analytical problem-solving skills to determine root causes and use of statistical analysis tools.
  7. Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence others.
  8. Demonstrated experience at influencing and driving corrective action with large global suppliers.
  9. Ability to work within a complex environment with cross-functional teams across different geographies.
  10. Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean.
  11. Proven track record utilizing data and metric driven performance improvements.
  12. Solid business judgment, including the ability to anticipate and weigh the impact of decisions.
  13. Leadership skills to be a change agent, demonstrating perseverance and resilience when faced with challenges.
  14. Ability to consult, advise and influence cross-functionally within the organization.
  15. Highly analytical, with a clear, logical understanding of problem-solving including Root Cause, Corrective Action, Countermeasures, Problem Solving Plans, and Action Plan development and execution.
  16. Highly skilled in managing conflict with suppliers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  17. Demonstrated ability to prioritize team objectives and activities in a dynamic environment.
  18. “Roll-up-the-sleeves” mentality to execute on work tasks as needed.

Our Environment

  1. Remote, field-based position.
  2. Travel is required up to 75% of the time. Employee must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. Our main office is in Wilmington, MA. The person taking this position will be required to perform work at our customer installation locations for extended periods of time where equipment is installed and ready for commissioning.
  3. Easy access to a major airport a must.
  4. The employee is responsible to own a credit card and manage expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
  5. The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
  6. The employee is routinely required to work at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  7. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  8. Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.
  9. Up to 75% of time will be spent on a construction site with PPE required (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection (e.g., safety harness)).
  10. There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure. You may be required to routinely walk up and down stairs to navigate the automation structure.
  11. You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.
  12. Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105°F to 32°F.
