Senior Machine Learning Engineer - Model Development at Sony Interactive Entertainment. We are seeking an experienced machine learning engineer to join our team and use ML in real-time computer graphics applications. This is an outstanding opportunity to work at the forefront of technology and innovation, applying your expertise to craft the future of gaming graphics.


The team

Based in London, our team is part of the ‘Foundational Systems and Experiences Engineering’ group. We build the low-level SDKs and fundamental technologies used by our game development partners to build PlayStation Games. Our team works on the latest GPU and Machine Learning technologies to deliver the next generation of high-performance computer graphics for PlayStation.


Responsibilities


  • Developing and refining ML models and architectures for computer graphics and game rendering.
  • Researching and evaluating new algorithms and techniques for graphics improvement.
  • Delivering fundamental technologies in our game SDKs.
  • Collaborating with a distributed team of experienced graphics engineers.
  • Working with technical leads, engineers, and project managers to plan goals and objectives.


What we’re looking for


  • A degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Strong experience in ML model development and neural networks, possibly with a research focus.
  • Experience in training, validation, and evaluation of deep neural network models on large datasets.
  • Experience in applying AI/ML technologies to real-time inference tasks, ensuring efficient and accurate decision-making in dynamic environments.
  • A passion for gaming and a keen interest in GPU technology trends such as ML and ray tracing.
  • A background in the interactive entertainment industry, computer graphics, or a related field.
  • Experience in developing computer graphics applications with C/C++ and APIs such as DirectX/Vulkan or console equivalents.
  • Strong communication and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.


Domain Expertise


  • Experience with programming languages, tools, and frameworks relevant to graphics and machine learning (e.g., C++, Python, PyTorch, OpenGL, DirectX).
  • Deep expertise in TensorFlow or PyTorch, Python, and related computer vision/graphics software; proven by building advanced image/video/graphics projects.
