ROLE OVERVIEW 

We are seeking an experienced Irish Gaelic Professional to support our team in ensuring the highest linguistic quality across projects. This role is particularly suited for university professors, lecturers, or experienced academics in Irish Gaelic or related fields who are looking for an opportunity to apply their expertise in translation, language quality assurance, and linguistic adaptation. 

You will support us performing quality control, advising on linguistic and cultural matters, and contributing to the development of linguistic resources and processes. Your expertise will help drive excellence in Irish Gaelic translation and localization projects. 

MAIN DUTIES 

- Assist in reviewing translations to ensure cultural and linguistic accuracy, consistency, and adherence to client requirements, providing constructive feedback to linguists. 
- Provide support for Irish Gaelic to English (and vice versa) translation tasks as needed, focusing on high-priority or time-sensitive projects. 
- Collaborate with the team to adapt content from Irish Gaelic into enGB, ensuring cultural and contextual relevance. 
- Help in updating and organizing glossaries, style guides, and other language resources to support ongoing projects and meet client needs. 
- Offer guidance and informal training to freelance linguists and internal team members to enhance their skills and understanding of project requirements. 
- Work closely with the project team to clarify terminology, language usage, and stylistic concerns, fostering a collaborative problem-solving environment. 
- Provide input in evaluating new freelancers or vendors for Irish Gaelic projects, ensuring alignment with quality standards. 
- Participate in discussions to improve linguistic workflows and processes, offering insights and feedback to optimize efficiency. 
 
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Educational Background 
- Advanced degree in Irish Gaelic Studies, Translation, Linguistics, Applied Languages, or a related field. 
- Academic or professional experience in Irish Gaelic language, translation, and localization.

Experience 
- Native or near-native fluency in Irish Gaelic and English. 
- 3+ years of experience in a professional language position, professor, teaching, translation, localization, or language quality assurance. 
- Experience teaching or mentoring in linguistics or related fields will be highly beneficial.  

Skills 
- Strong understanding of the Irish Gaelic Language and culture, localization processes and cultural adaptation would be a plus.  
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
- Ability to provide clear, constructive feedback and mentor others. 
- High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines. 
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
