Electrical Team Leader

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will ensure the Lifecycle Solutions portfolio is delivered effectively according to ABB quality standards and safety guidelines via the execution of technical support and acting as specialist to solve problems in your own expertise area. The work model for the role is: hybrid from our Aberdeen, St Neots or Daresbury locations. This role is contributing to the Energy Industries business in the UK. Main stakeholders include customers, suppliers, and ABB colleagues from Sales, Operations, Factories & Service Units. You will be mainly accountable for: • Engineering, installing, commissioning and maintaining a wide range of electrical equipment including: HV/LV Switchgear (up to 33kV), Excitation and Synchronising Equipment, Protection Relays • Diagnosing and rectifying faults on electrical equipment including communication link between equipment and control system (eg Modbus/Profibus/IEC61850) • Developing work packs, testing procedures and method statements according to ABB and customer safety and quality standards • Liaising with customer on site to generate work permits, isolation testing procedures and attend on site meetings as necessary to support effective completion of the work scope • Assisting in tender preparation with technical input • Analysing customer RFQ and communicate with customer to develop a scope of work • Liaising with internal factory technical specialists and attend factory acceptance tests of electrical equipment as required • Supporting junior team members and graduates in their career development and training

Qualifications for the role

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification (HNC/HND)
  • Knowledge of Power Generation and MV/LV electrical distribution systems
  • Protection Relays (secondary injection testing)
  • Familiar with safety and isolation procedures for electrical systems/equipment
  • Offshore commissioning/maintenance experience
  • Experience of reviewing electrical schematics & workpacks
  • Knowledge and experience of communication protocols e.g. Modbus/Profibus/IEC61850
  • Competent in writing maintenance and commissioning procedures for electrical equipment
  • Knowledge and understanding of programming and interfacing between electrical products and customer control systems.
  • Familiar with safety and isolation procedures for electrical systems/equipment
  • Experience in creating quality and safety procedures for PM/CM activities offshore
  • Knowledge of excitation (AVR) & synchronising equipment
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting Power Management and SCADA Systems
