Withsearchbeing a core focus for the next generation of our platform, this is an exciting opportunity to explorevector search, machine learning, and large-scale data processing, all while working withApache Lucene, Solr, or Elasticsearch.

This role is hybrid, with one day per week in our Glasgow office (Tuesdays) and the rest remote.More time in-office may be required for onboarding and training initially.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and optimizea high-performance data platform and search solution for MyAmici.
  • Develop robust search capabilitiesusing technologies such as Apache Lucene, Solr, or Elasticsearch.
  • Engineer scalable data pipelinesin Java or Python to process and integrate large datasets efficiently.
  • Collaborate closelywith Business Analysts, Data Engineers, and UI Developers to deliver impactful features.
  • Work across the full stack, from our React/TypeScript front-end to our Java-based search services.
  • Leverage cloud technologies(Azure Data Factory, Batch Services, Azure SQL) to enhance platform capabilities.
  • Contribute to DevOps practices, code reviews, and system optimizations to maintain high performance and reliability.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience inJava development, with exposure toPythonfor data processing.
  • Professional experience working withlarge-scale data processing and search technologies.
  • Expertise inApache Lucene, Solr, Elasticsearch, or similar search technologies, or a keen willingness to learn.
  • Hands-on experience withSQL and NoSQL databases(e.g., SQL Server, Postgres, MongoDB, CosmosDB).
  • Experience working inAgile environmentswithmodern DevOpsand CI/CD practices.
  • AComputer Science/Software Engineering degreeor equivalent industry experience.
  • Familiarity withwriting automated tests(JUnit, Jest, etc.) and maintaining high code quality.
