Senior Data Scientist Consultant – London | Hybrid

Who I’m looking for

You’re an experienced consultant who thrives on solving complex client challenges through data, analytics, and technology. You’re confident operating in ambiguous environments, bringing structure, clarity, and insight to every engagement.

You combine deep technical expertise with strong communication skills — able to translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for clients. You build trust quickly, are commercially aware, and enjoy working at the intersection of data science, strategy, and innovation.

You’re equally comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders, mentoring junior team members, or getting hands-on developing prototypes and scalable analytical solutions.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading client engagements as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert.
  • Working in agile, experiment-driven environments that value iteration and learning.
  • Translating client challenges into well-defined analytical problems and evidence-based recommendations.
  • Scoping and delivering complex technical projects end-to-end.
  • Designing and implementing cloud-based or hybrid data solutions (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Applying advanced analytical and statistical methods to uncover insights and support decision-making.
  • Writing maintainable, production-quality code (Python or similar) and adhering to best practices (version control, testing, CI/CD).
  • Building scalable, deployable systems while managing risk and ensuring quality.
  • Communicating findings through clear, compelling narratives tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Contributing to business development, client pitches, and the organisation’s broader strategy.

About you

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a consultancy environment, leading delivery across complex, client-facing technical projects.
  • Degree (or higher) in a STEM discipline.
  • Proven expertise in data science, analytics, or applied machine learning.
  • Strong coding ability in Python (or equivalent), with familiarity across cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, software engineering best practice, and modern development workflows.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — able to influence, advise, and collaborate effectively.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and a passion for continuous learning.

Security Clearance

Due to the nature of the work, applicants must hold active SC clearance or be eligible to obtain it.

To qualify, you must be a British Citizen who has lived in the UK continuously for the past five years.

What’s in it for you?

You’ll join at the Senior level, with a competitive salary and package reflective of your impact. This is an opportunity to be part of a fast-growing, values-driven organisation where innovation, collaboration, and transparency are at the heart of everything. Your voice will be heard, your ideas will shape the future, and you’ll gain exposure across the full breadth of strategy, delivery, and client success.

  • 3 paid volunteering days
  • £200 tech budget
  • 3 promotion windows per year

As we move into 2026, the machine learning jobs market in the UK is going through another big shift. Foundation models and generative AI are everywhere, companies are under pressure to show real ROI from AI, and cloud costs are being scrutinised like never before. Some organisations are slowing hiring or merging teams. Others are doubling down on machine learning, MLOps and AI platform engineering to stay competitive. The end result? Fewer fluffy “AI” roles, more focused machine learning roles with clear ownership and expectations. Whether you are a machine learning job seeker planning your next move, or a recruiter trying to build ML teams, understanding the key machine learning hiring trends for 2026 will help you stay ahead.

Why Machine Learning Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

Machine learning (ML) has moved from research labs into mainstream UK businesses. From healthcare diagnostics to fraud detection, autonomous vehicles to recommendation engines, ML underpins critical services and consumer experiences. But the skillset required of today’s machine learning professionals is no longer purely technical. Employers increasingly seek multidisciplinary expertise: not only coding, algorithms & statistics, but also knowledge of law, ethics, psychology, linguistics & design. This article explores why UK machine learning careers are becoming more multidisciplinary, how these fields intersect with ML roles, and what both job-seekers & employers need to understand to succeed in a rapidly changing landscape.
