About Faculty:

Our client is a modern AI consultancy that’s been delivering real-world machine learning solutions for over a decade — long before it became fashionable. With a strong reputation across Defence, Life Sciences, Energy, and Financial Services, they operate at the leading edge of applied AI, with a delivery-focused, full-stack mindset.

This isn’t old-school consulting. It’s high-calibre, high-impact work with small elite teams solving genuinely critical problems using cutting-edge tech.

The Role:

We’re looking for a Senior Data Scientist who can own delivery from start to finish — someone who can lead technical workstreams, manage a small team, and translate client needs into production-ready machine learning solutions.

You’ll work on national defence projects, contributing to secure, autonomous technology platforms that are critical to the UK’s safety and technological sovereignty. This includes shaping the project approach, designing robust architectures, mentoring others, and leading delivery in close partnership with clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as tech lead on Defence AI programmes, overseeing project delivery and model lifecycle
  • Design software and ML architecture while enforcing engineering best practice
  • Scope new projects with commercial teams, providing technical guidance during early phases
  • Mentor junior data scientists and guide professional development across the team
  • Work hands-on with Python, ML libraries (NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-Learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow), and statistical modelling
  • Translate real-world problems into mathematical frameworks and deploy scalable solutions
  • Contribute to the wider data science community through thought leadership, teaching, and open-source contributions

What You’ll Bring:

  • Senior-level experience in data science, quantitative research, or applied machine learning
  • Strong Python skills and proficiency with ML libraries and frameworks
  • Experience leading teams or managing technical delivery across client-facing projects
  • Depth in a wide range of data science techniques: supervised/unsupervised learning, time-series analysis, NLP, Bayesian inference, etc.
  • A pragmatic, scientific mindset with commercial acumen and a drive for real-world impact
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proven ability to turn business problems into deployable AI solutions

Security Requirements:

  • You must hold active SC clearance or be eligible to obtain it
  • Able to travel up to 3 days/week to secure client sites depending on project stage (expenses not paid)

Why Join?

  • Join a company that’s reshaping how AI is deployed in Defence and National Security
  • Work on projects that truly matter — keeping the UK secure and technologically ahead
  • Be part of a growing, high-performing team (10-person squads incl. DS, Engineers, and Delivery)
  • Culture of impact, collaboration, and intellectual freedom
  • Excellent benefits: Private healthcare (AXA), 5% matched pension (Scottish Widows), unlimited annual leave

If you are SC cleared or eligible with the technical leadership to shape and deliver AI solutions in Defence, this is your chance to do work that has real purpose.

Apply now to be part of one of the UK’s most respected AI consultancies.
