Join our team as a Senior Data Scientist, harnessing the power of data to transform how government services work, impacting thousands of UK citizens. Our team are central to the Health Transformation Programme, reporting on data from the Personal Independence Payments and Health Assessment services. You'll use your expertise in huge datasets and data science techniques to support the development of these services, improving outcomes and experience for both claimants and colleagues. You'll work closely with our Design and Build Strategy teams, as well as a range of digital professions within the organisation to promote the use of data. DWP. Digital with Purpose. We are looking for two Senior Data Scientists to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital. We're using data to drive critical public services transformations and digital solutions that will be used by millions of UK citizens at key moments in their lives. The scale of what we do is extraordinary, and our purpose is unique. We'd love you to join us. What skills, knowledge and experience will you need? How will this be assessed? The application process requires a technical statement and your employment history. The sift panel will use the information in your employment history and technical statement to assess your experience, skills and knowledge. Technical statement: Describe a time you delivered a data science solution to solve a business problem or improve an established process. You will be required to use the STAR format (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to approach your response. Employment History: When giving details of your employment history, you should highlight your experience in line with the essential criteria below: Evidence of a strong academic background in one of the following, eg - Maths, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science. Significant experience delivering innovative, data-driven solutions and can apply a range of data science techniques to solve business problems or improve established processes. Proven ability to explore, combine and transform data from across disparate sources, writing code in R, Python or SQL that is testable and scalable. Significant demonstrable experience of building team capability through role modelling, mentoring and coaching. Evidence of strong stakeholder management skills and experience working with colleagues to understand their requirements and deliver complex analytical projects in a timely manner. Influential, with proven ability to communicate results to a range of audiences, translating technical concepts into non-technical language where necessary. Details. Wages. Perks. Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%. Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time.
