Overview

Senior Data Engineer in Norwich. We are on the look out for a Senior Data Engineer to take a lead on our Data Engineering effort to help us scale our impact. The role is 90% hands-on, and reports into our Head of Data.

Responsibilities
  • Defining and building overall data architecture – both internal and offering inputs to our products
  • Recruitment: Support Head of Data and HR with talent search process
  • Security and data quality: Determine and implement the security model based on privacy requirements, confirm safeguards are followed, address data quality issues
  • Monitoring and governance: Determine and implement approach to logging. Evolve governance processes within allocated areas of ownership. Define data contracts
  • Production: Define and implement approach to production code. Define and build optimised pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems to facilitate easier development of data artifacts
  • Roadmap and collaboration: support Head of Data and influence cross-functional teams to identify data opportunities to drive impact
Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • 5yr+ relevant experience, including experience making build vs buy decisions
  • Experience with SQL, ETL, data modelling and at least one programming language (e.g. Python, C++, C#, Scala)
  • Some deep experience with one or more of the following: data processing automation, data quality, data warehousing, analytics engineering
  • Ability to work collaboratively cross-teams
Desirable Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • Some experience with Google Cloud tech stack (Dataflow, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Dataproc, Data Catalog, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run)
  • Experience with some of the following: AirFlow, DBT, Redis, Iceberg, DataHub, MongoDB, Looker
  • Experience setting up and managing Computing clusters
  • Experience defining and implementing from scratch a data architecture using a modern data stack
