The Role

As the Senior Data Engineer for Data Analytics and Intelligence Solutions within the Burson Global, EMEA team, your primary focus is to build bespoke Data Analytics and Intelligence platforms for clients. You will leverage a combination of low code / no code and cloud technologies, ensuring the accelerated integration of both established and new products into the business ecosystem.

In addition, you will be responsible for Co-Driving the incorporation of AI-based features into our products and contributing to DevOps for Burson owned platforms.

You will be working remotely as part of a fixed, distributed development team embedded into multiple product teams, collaborating with colleagues from diverse backgrounds, geographies, and functions. 

This is a regional position; we are open to where this role could be based. Burson EMEA offices are in Belgium, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland, South Africa, Turkey, UAE, UK & Saudi.

What you’ll do as you move with us

Fusion development: Knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform, and experience with connecting Power BI / Apps / Automate and SharePoint resources to data processing pipelines and storage on Azure.  Cloud Computing: Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and experience with cloud-based infrastructure and services, with the ability to design and deploy basic cloud architectures for data products using Data factory, Data warehouse or Databricks.  Scripting and Programming: Proficiency in Python. Additional scripting languages and/or one or more programming languages such as Java, R, DAX, M is an advantage.  SQL and NoSQL Databases and Data Lakes: Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, and in file formats such as Parquet for data storage and retrieval.  Data Preparation and Processing Techniques: Understanding of data preparation and processing techniques such as data cleaning, normalization, data imputation, feature engineering, and data transformation, as well as experience with tools and technologies such as Pandas, NumPy, and SciPy.  Machine Learning: Knowledge of and experience in working with Machine Learning algorithms such as topic models and other natural language processing methods in production and working collaboratively with data scientists.  Artificial Intelligence: Knowledge of and experience in adding GPT components to existing data pipelines, including considerations around reliability, security, and ethics.  Consulting and Client Engagement: Lead client inspection sessions during the development/build phase of projects. Proactively establish expectations and maintain continuous, reliable communication with client stakeholders, including Project Managers, client-side Product Owners, and Business Stakeholders.

Experience and Skills that contributes to your success

Qualification in Computer Science or comparable practical experience  Experience in designing and implementing end to end business intelligence solutions.  Communication Skills: Ability to work collaboratively with other developers, designers, and stakeholders, and to communicate technical concepts to non-technical team members.  Agile and DevOps Methodologies and DevOps philosophy/mindset: Familiarity with agile working methodologies, such as scrum and kanban, agile development methodologies and the DevOps culture of collaboration, communication, and continuous improvement.  Version Control: Experience with version control systems such as Git, and knowledge of best practices for collaboration and code review.  API Development: Understanding of RESTful API design principles and experience with API development frameworks such as Flask.  Testing and Debugging: ability to use tools like Python Unit Tests to identify and fix bugs, as well as writing automated tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
