As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in designing and building the data infrastructure that underpins how we operate, from creating a single source of truth to enabling smarter, faster, and evidence‑based decisions across the business. This is an exciting opportunity to work with cloud platforms, modern data tools, and a passionate team of data, analytics, and insight professionals, helping us shape the future of transport.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting in the delivery of data that informs the whole business
  • Designing, building, and deploying data pipelines within the Stagecoach Integration Platform (SIP) and Data Warehouse.
  • Delivering systems to store and retrieve large volumes of data securely and efficiently.
  • Integrating data from multiple sources, leveraging APIs, applications, and external systems.
  • Developing, monitoring, and improving the quality, performance, and reliability of our data & integration platform.
  • Working closely with the wider Data, Analytics & Insight team to deliver end‑to‑end data products.
  • Ensuring all solutions meet information security and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across Central Functions and Operating Companies to deliver data capabilities that support strategic goals.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong expertise in Python and SQL for data integration and engineering.
  • Strong expertise with cloud platforms (AWS preferred, but Azure/GCP also welcome).
  • Expertise in data warehousing tools (e.g. Redshift, Snowflake) and concepts.
  • Understanding of industry‑standard best practice on how to model data for the most efficient storage and retrieval.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach.
  • Mentorship and leadership skills on complex deliverables.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical issues clearly to non‑technical audiences.
