Here at Severn Trent we’re advancing our data platforms to the next level, and we’re seeking aSenior Data Engineerto bringadvanced Azure Synapse Analytics expertiseto our team.


In this pivotal role, you’ll design, build, and optimise scalable data pipelines that support analytics, reporting, and data science across the business. You’ll work closely with analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to ensure data is accurate, accessible, and performance-optimised — all within a modern Azure-based environment.


We’re investing in our data platform, and this role offers the opportunity to work with tools like Azure Synapse, Data Lake, and Databricks, while contributing to the evolution of our data engineering practices.

You’ll be based at our Severn Trent Centre site in Coventry. You’ll work within our Data Engineering team which is rapidly growing. With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in SQL and advanced experience with Azure Synapse Analytics, alongside other Azure data services such as Data Lake and Data Factory. You’ll also bring proven capability in PySpark, with experience building scalable data transformation workflows and working with large datasets in distributed environments.


Experience with Databricks is a plus, as is familiarity with DevOps and ML Ops practices that support collaboration with analytics and data science teams. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, communicating clearly, and taking ownership of your work.
