Senior Data Engineer: Are you ready to lead the charge in delivering cutting-edge data engineering solutions that power business-critical decisions? At Ageas, we’re on a mission to transform how data drives our business—and we’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help us get there.


Target Start Date: ASAP


Contract Type: Permanent, Part Time, Full Time, Job Share option available


Salary Range: £68k - £78k dependant on experience


Location: Eastleigh, Hybrid

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and testing of data solutions across the full development lifecycle.
  • Manage day-to-day delivery of assigned work and deputise for the Data Operations Manager when required.
  • Coach and mentor developers, fostering technical growth and capability within the team.
  • Collaborate with other teams across EDS to ensure seamless data delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement in data engineering standards, tools, and processes.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices in data governance, security, and compliance across all data engineering activities.
  • Provide accurate estimates for development work and contribute to project planning and prioritisation.

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience in leading data engineering projects and mentoring teams.
  • Strong technical skills in data warehouse design, ETL development, and data lifecycle management.
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, SQL, or similar languages.
  • Experience with Snowflake and Matillion preferred.
  • CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps experience.
  • Experience with Azure cloud platform, and security concepts i.e. Keyvault, ACLs and RBACs.
  • A passion for data and a drive to embed engineering excellence across the team.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with dimensional modelling and its application in building scalable, analytical data solutions.
