In anticipation of increasing scale and complexity of the business we’re now looking for a Senior Data Engineer. At Booksy, Data Engineers collaborate with multi-functional agile teams to design and implement data movements. They develop and maintain the self-service infrastructure that enable domain centric teams to build data products autonomously. By ensuring that data is accessible, reliable, well-governed, and integrated, Data Engineers empower the entire organization to scale operations, innovate faster, and drive growth through informed, data-centric decisions. Your responsibilities: Building data products : Develop, maintain, and enhance data products that deliver valuable insights and drive decision-making across teams. Collaborate closely with cross-functional agile teams to understand their requirements, and ensure alignment. Dive into code and data to validate business rules and estimate complexity. Data Quality & Governance : Establish governance processes to ensure data quality across teams. Oversee governance for sensitive data, ensuring that privacy and security compliance is maintained at scale. Educate engineers through regular qualitative reviews and feedback. Domain Expertise & Data Literacy : Serve as a data expert for several domains, identifying knowledge gaps and enriching the glossary and metadata. Promote data literacy by coaching and mentoring other engineers, providing hands-on support, and offering comprehensive training. Self-Service Infrastructure : Design and implement a self-service infrastructure, enabling teams to automate data workflows. Solid understanding of how IAM works in a complex environment. Enable continuous deployment of infrastructure via CI/CD. Documentation & Support : Document the data platform in a developer-friendly way, creating clear guides, getting-started tutorials, and detailed "how-to" resources. Actively contribute to the support process by leveraging user feedback to enhance the developer experience continuously. Project Management & Stakeholder Alignment : Participate in quarterly OKR definition, helping identify dependencies, establish timelines, and provide accurate estimations. Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define data engineering roadmaps, ensuring alignment and clear communication throughout the process. Team Growth & Development : Contribute to the hiring process by evaluating candidates and helping build a high-performance data engineering team. Continuously coach and mentor team members to ensure collective growth and expertise. Our requirements: 5 years of experience in backend and data engineering, coupled with strong system design skills. Experienced with TDD, showing a solid understanding of the testing pyramid, and a focus on writing clean, testable code that brings value. Experience with one major cloud technology. Understand how to select and articulate data processing services such as dataplex, datastream, dataflow, google pub/sub and big query to build and govern robust data movements. Practical proficiency in CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, especially in the context of infrastructure as code. Proficient in schema designs and dimensional data modeling. Actively seeks new solutions and approaches to improve processes and workflows. Keeps up to date with emerging technologies. Sets an exemplary standard of work that serves as a benchmark for other developers. Has a significant impact on improving the quality of other developers' work through mentorship, guidance, and feedback. Able to communicate complex ideas clearly to diverse stakeholders.
