We are exploring apetito’s rich data assets with the exciting new technologies and tools that are now available and identifying new opportunities to deliver superior customer satisfaction and to grow the business. Our data infrastructure is in the Cloud (Azure) mainly and one environment is scheduled to be migrated to Azure, a project that you will lead. You will be part of the Data and Analytics team, a fantastic, closely knit team that works on strategic data analysis and business intelligence projects across our businesses in UK, Ireland, and North America across B2C and B2B. As a key member of the Data and Analytics Leadership team, you will drive the strategy for data analytics across all markets. You will manage a Data Engineer (apprentice) and support their development. This is a fantastic opportunity to manage a leading-edge data infrastructure and ensure that it continues to be resilient, scalable and future proof. The role offers you an opportunity to evaluate, deploy and work with new technologies and tools.

Wiltshire Farm Foods, our sister company, is the UK’s largest ready meal supplier cooking and delivering over 330 different frozen ready meals across the UK.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the management of the Data infrastructure for our B2C businesses - Wiltshire Farm Foods, UK and Ireland, Heart to Home Meals, Canada and Heart to Home Meals, USA, ensuring that the ETLs run consistently, and data is always available at high integrity and governance
  • Develop and deliver a development road-map to enhance and improve the performance of the data infrastructure. Provide development support to the analytics and the Business Intelligence teams
  • Maintain the Dev, Test and Production environments with synchronicity across environments. Manage the development cycle with a strong DevOps process
  • Evaluate the data quality and develop a robust plan for tracking and improving data quality in these environments
  • Work with the CISO and the IT colleagues to ensure security compliance on the infrastructure
  • Manage migration of the Wiltshire Farm Foods, UK and Ireland infrastructure to the Cloud from the data perspective
  • Deploy the One DTC framework across all the environments
  • Support the data privacy policy in close collaboration with the DPO, IT and the business owners
  • Support delivery of a comprehensive business intelligence suite across the B2C businesses
  • Support the Business Intelligence, Marketing Analytics, Forensic Analytics and AI/Predictive analytics teams with advice and documentation
  • Develop a robust set of performance reporting for each of the environments
  • Address any failures in the production environments within the internal SLA. Log and analyse the causes of failures and develop robust countermeasures to eliminate causes of failure
  • Build a deep understanding of our products, processes, systems, and data, and build strong relationships with the stakeholders across the business
  • Be the technical guru for the Data and Analytics colleagues

Qualifications

To be considered for this role you must have at least 5 years experience in handling a SQL production environment as a DBA/ Data Engineer, including:



  • Strong SQL & T-SQL skills, applied to dynamic loading of a data warehouse, gained in a work context
  • Extensive experience in data integration, data modelling and ingestion
  • Expertise and experience with Azure, SSIS and DataBricks
  • Collaborative and enquiring mindset
  • Aptitude to problem solving and a keen focus on continued optimisation
  • Strong analytical skills you can apply to a commercial setting and business processes

Desirable

  • Handling large amounts of data from multiple sources, internal and external, through APIs and SFTP with secure data exchange protocols and experience in data structuring/warehouse design
  • Hands-on experience with a visualisation tool (ideally Tableau), in setting up and managing the technical infrastructure and access management
  • Strong understanding of information security principles and technologies and demonstrated experience working with IT infrastructure colleagues and the CISO in building and managing a secure, efficient data infrastructure
  • Experience with SAP, Microsoft NAV, Microsoft Business Central, Erwin would be a plus
  • Good stakeholder skills with demonstrated experience of working with business analysts and data analysts, IT colleagues and external suppliers

Location and flex

This role requires you to be in the office for 3 days per week. You will need to live within a reasonable commutable distance from our Trowbridge Head Office to be considered for this role.
