The Company

A well-established UK-based financial services company with a long-standing history, specializing in mortgages, specialist lending, and retail savings. They are undergoing an exciting transformation, modernising their systems with a large-scale migration from legacy infrastructure to the cloud.


The Team

You’ll be joining a team of 10 Data Engineers working within their SQL Server environments. This team is part of a broader Data function that encompasses data architecture, data governance, data operations, data delivery through Scrum Masters, decision support focused on business intelligence, and ongoing data modernisation efforts.


The Role

As aSenior Data Engineer, you'll be hands-on with SQL Server, working closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective solutions using legacy systems.

  • You’ll create detailed data solutions, document them clearly, and present them to stakeholders for review and approval, ensuring they align with business and technical needs.
  • Collaboration is key, so you’ll actively participate in team discussions, offering feedback while being open to others’ ideas and improvements.
  • You’ll provide guidance and support to junior engineers, helping them develop their technical skills and grow within the team.
  • You’ll work closely with stakeholders to understand their requirements, ensuring that the team delivers solutions that meet business goals and deadlines.


What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience with SQL Server and managing data projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management & communication skills across both technical and non-technical teams, ensuring clear communication.
  • Experience in financial services or other regulated sectors is preferred but not required.
  • A team player. Someone who collaborates rather than dictates: Ability to work well within a team, share ideas, and accept feedback.
  • Delivery-focused with a problem-solving mindset across data solutions.
