Data Engineering Specialist
Salary: Circa £65,000
 

Are you a data engineering expert with a passion for delivering high-quality solutions and guiding technical teams? We’re looking for a Data Engineering Specialistto provide hands-on technical leadership and delivery oversight across our development and IT Change community. This is a key role in ensuring our data solutions are robust, scalable, and delivered to the highest standards.

A bit about the job:

Oversee the development of secure, high-performance ETL solutions aligned with business and architectural goals.

Provide expert input across multiple projects and act as a key technical authority within the Data & Analytics Platform (DAP) team.

Support and mentor development teams, balancing hands-on involvement with strategic leadership.

Ensure production systems run smoothly, including managing defects and emergency fixes.

Promote reusable code, shared utilities, and adapt to both Agile and Waterfall methodologies for efficient delivery.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

Proven consultancy experience acrossETL/ELT, Data Warehousing, and Big Data, with a strong hands-on delivery approach.

Skilled in ETL tools, particularly the Informatica suite (PowerCenter, BDM, IICS, IDMC), and experienced withAWS cloud technologies like S3, Glue, and Data Lake.

Solid understanding of databases such as Postgres, Oracle,and Snowflake, along with scripting skills in Python and PySpark.

Ability to translate complex technical and business requirements into scalable, practical solutions.

Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to challenge and improve existing approaches constructively.

SalaryCirca £65,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
