THE ROLE: SENIOR DATA ANALYST

The Senior Data Analyst at MarTrust will play a pivotal role in enabling data-driven decision-making in MarTrust’s product organisation. Placed in the MarTrust Data team, the Senior Data Analyst will work closely with cross-functional teams of engineers, product managers and designers to deliver initiatives that are critical for our customers and users.

In this role, you will work across MarTrust’s suite of products including our card and wallet for shipping companies and seafarers, vendor payments and accounts payables products. You will be at the frontline of shaping the future of maritime financial services.


Your new day-to-day will involve:

Enable Data-Driven Product Development

Create actionable insights from complex data sets through analytical methods such as cohort, funnel, and lifetime value analysis. Partner with product, engineering, marketing, and operational teams to ensure that data insights are integrated into all stages of product development.


Monitor the Performance of our Products

Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor the performance of products and related business activities. Analyze trends and KPIs to identify areas of improvement and drive business growth. Evaluate the outcome of completed projects. Ensure that the product data used across the organisation is accurate and consistent.


Develop Best-in-class Data Infrastructure

Develop and refine data tools and processes to improve data accessibility and usability across the organization. Contribute to the effective use of our existing tools (SQL, Python, R, BigQuery, Mixpanel, Metabase and Excel) and contributing new tools and best practices to the data team.

  1. Advanced Data Analysis:

Lead the process of extracting, analyzing, and interpreting data to provide actionable insights that drive business decisions. Identify opportunities for improvement across MarTrust's suite of products, including payroll solutions, multi-currency wallets, and vendor payments.

Data-Driven Product Development:

Collaborate with product teams to integrate data insights into the development and enhancement of MarTrust’s financial products. Ensure data analytics is a core component of the product lifecycle, from ideation to launch and beyond.

Customer Segmentation and Profiling:

Develop and refine customer segmentation models to identify key user groups and inform targeted marketing strategies. Use data to create detailed customer profiles that enhance engagement and retention.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Serve as the central point of contact for data-related inquiries, working closely with product, engineering, marketing, and operations teams. Ensure cohesive data integration across all business functions to support strategic goals.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) across products, marketing campaigns, and business operations. Analyze data trends to identify areas of improvement and drive continuous optimization.

Tool and Process Development:

Lead the development and refinement of data tools and processes to enhance data accessibility and usability across the organization. Implement automation and efficiency improvements where possible.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:

Maintain transparent and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding data strategies, insights, and initiatives. Present complex data findings in a clear and actionable manner to influence decision-making.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

Promote a culture of innovation within the data team. Encourage the exploration of new analytical techniques, tools, and methodologies to enhance MarTrust’s data capabilities and business outcomes.


This is what we need from you:

  • Proven experience in data analytics roles, preferably in fintech or a high-growth industry.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex data insights and strategies to diverse audiences, ensuring clarity and understanding.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with product, engineering, marketing, and operations teams, ensuring data insights are integrated across all business functions.
  • Strong technical ability including SQL, Python and R, and a proven ability to quickly learn new languages and concepts.
  • Strong statistical and numerical literacy, including statistical and financial concepts.
  • Experience in creating robust processes around data and reports, ensuring that the information the company relies on is up-do-date and accurate.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements relevant to the maritime and financial sectors, ensuring that data practices and product development are compliant.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with the ability to pivot and adjust data strategies based on new information or changing business needs.
