IQUW is a speciality (re)insurer at Lloyd's (Syndicate 1856) underwriting a diverse range of Property, Commercial and Speciality (re)insurance products from Cargo and Marine to Political Violence, Terror and War. We combine data, intelligent automation and human expertise to make smart decisions, fast.
The role
Support, improve and deliver high quality BI reporting and data transformation solutions as part of the Central BI Team using tools such as Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks and Power Bi.
Actively participate within the central Data & BI Team to help develop other team members and support the delivery of the team objectives.
Perform operation support activities to ensure the Central BI solution meets the business SLA's, including occasional OOH activities.
Key responsibilities
Data & Business Intelligence Team
Enhance existing Data Lakehouse with new Databricks pipelines to ingest new data sources.
Build out data transformations to support new Facts and Dimensions within existing Data Lakehouse.
Conduct data analysis and then design and deliver the subsequent data extraction and database repository.
Provide the agreed level of documentation and handover to enable the support and continued development of the BI/data transformation solutions delivered.
Liaise with business personnel to review, refine, and document business requirements.
Wider BI Business Support
Work directly with the Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, Finance and Central MI business representatives to identify and document business requirements.
Provide technical support and guidance to the business teams to enable them to achieve their own reporting goals.

T-SQL Development (MS SQL Server 2005 onwards)

Experience of the following business areas would be advantageous:
Insurance sector (Lloyds Syndicate, Underwriting, Broking)
Qualifications:
Degree educated in relevant field or long-standing technical experience.

Excellent communication skills - written and verbal, being able to liaise with staff at all levels around issues and opportunities.
Can do attitude - self-starter, makes things happen. Ability and attitude to learn and develop.
Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail.
