About the job you're considering

We are seeking experienced SAS Consultants/Data Engineers to join our growing team within a large, long-standing public-sector partnership. In this pivotal role within our Data Portfolio, you will contribute to helping our client maximise revenues, bear down on avoidance and evasion, and improve and transform systems. Utilising your SAS expertise, you will help lead development, testing and support of critical solutions in business and technical areas such as fraud detection, data management, business intelligence, application support, and/or analytics. You will work primarily with a product owner, scrum master, solutions architects, and fellow engineers, with regular client and key stakeholder interactions.

Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your role
  • Design and implement robust, secure and performant SAS-based solutions for data integration and analytics.
  • Build, operate and improve data pipelines (e.g., ingestion, transformation, reporting, fraud detection, and analytics) with monitoring, alerting and SLAs.
  • Collaborate with product teams and client stakeholders to refine requirements and align decisions to NFRs (cost, performance, security).
  • Support incident resolution and ensure service continuity.
  • Share knowledge, mentor colleagues, and contribute to Capgemini's engineering communities of practice.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and work cross-functionally with engineers, analysts and business teams.
Your skills and experience
  • Experience as a Data Engineer delivering large-scale, complex data solutions.
  • Expertise in building solutions using SAS 9.x and SAS Viya 3.x/4 (ideally tooling such as SAS Studio, Visual Analytics, Visual Investigator, VDMML, Intelligence Decisioning, Environment Manager).
  • Solid understanding of data modelling and ETL.
  • Experience designing and implementing batch scheduling solutions, including job and flow deployment using Airflow and/or native SAS schedulers.
  • Knowledge of SAS performance optimisation, including database connectivity.
  • Ability to partner with Architects to design robust, scalable solutions.
  • Ability to incorporate CI/CD best practices into development workflows.
  • Excellent client-facing and consultancy skills.
