ROLE SUMMARY

This role requires someone who is passionate about kids and families and an advocate of the role that authentic, of-the-moment insight can play to grow a successful business.

Possessing qualitative, project and stakeholder management skills, this person is ideally looking to make a real business impact with insight. They are motivated by the unique opportunity to play an integral role in growing Beano Brain and the Beano Studios business.

They are driven by the opportunity to work with kids and families in the UK, US and Europe to bring subsequent insight and their experience to bear in supporting Beano Studios and Beano Brain growth objectives.

ROLE PURPOSE

This is a dual-purpose role supporting the growth of Beano Brain and the growth of the wider Beano Studios business. 

Beano Brain:

  • To support the growth of Beano Brain by working with the Operations team helping to run our proprietary insight programmes
  • Ownership of allocated Trendspotters building good relationships with kids and their families
  • Contribute to the advancement of internal research technologies to improve current product offerings and research methods
  • Work towards strong moderation and interview skills with a natural ability to build rapport with kids
  • Strong analytical thinking skills with some ability to demonstrate commercial acumen

Beano Studios:

  • To support the growth of Beano Studios business by managing and delivering high quality insight projects which meet stakeholder briefs with guidance from the senior team
  • To support internal teams in surfacing insight which answers their immediate needs in a timely manner and to support internal stakeholders in deploying insight successfully
  • To measure the impact of insights deployed

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Beano Brain:

  • You will help to manage and maintain the Beano Brain toolkit including Beano Brain Trendspotters UK and US
  • This will include fieldwork, interviewing kids, teens and families face-to-face and remotely as well as designing and analysing child-appropriate surveys
  • You will work towards becoming an acknowledged expert in kids, teens and family research
  • You will produce appropriate desk research and access our existing database of insights to answer queries relating to client proposals and projects
  • You will deliver insight in a timely manner to meet client deadlines
  • You will support the Commercial Insight team with external client fieldwork and advice where appropriate/required
  • You will share and exchange knowledge with the wider Beano Brain team

Beano Studios Stakeholder Insight & Management:

  • With support you will work towards becoming an insight lead on agreed projects within Beano Studios and in partnership projects across the DCT Group
  • You will work with internal teams to ensure the toolkit and methodologies fit Beano Studios ethos, treat children and parents with respect and ensure we continue our reputation of disruptive approaches that garner authentic kids, teens and families insights
  • You will produce appropriate desk research and access our existing database of insights to answer stakeholder queries
  • You will work towards managing and conducting quality ad hoc qualitative research from initiation to completion for internal stakeholders
  • You will help prepare research proposals for internal clients

Broad Research Skills:

  • You will design fieldwork materials e.g. guides, online tasks, co-creation workshops
  • You will proficiently use digital interviewing platforms (e.g. Zoom)
  • You will manage and run online qualitative panels for clients (e.g. Indeemo) including drafting and uploading online community guides
  • You will moderate fieldwork with kids, teens, parents and other relevant audiences, including individual depth interviews, mini groups, co-creation sessions
  • You will contribute to analysis of insights, writing presentations and delivering reports appropriate to an internal audience and timescales
  • You will help to draft insightful, persuasive and action inspiring presentations, working closely with the senior project team
  • You will help present insights to clients and stakeholders with support from the senior team

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Articulate and possessing excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Educated to degree level or appropriate transferrable experience and skills
  • Interest in and curiosity for youth culture/trends/associated brand world
  • Some experience of working with stakeholders from other teams
  • Project management experience/able to work with field to ensure projects and recruitment run smoothly (with some guidance from Beano Brain Research Manager)
  • Sound understanding of qualitative research methods and techniques
  • Some experience interviewing kids, teens and families moderating 1:1 sessions and online communities
  • Experience observing/note taking across a variety of session types
  • An interest in kids, teens and families in the UK, US and in Europe
  • Excellent analysis and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent lateral thinking skills, in particular an ability to look beyond the obvious
  • Ability to write first draft of discussion guides/pre-tasks/community guides with clear briefing from seniors
  • Excellent report writing and presentation ability including a high-level of competency in MS Word and PowerPoint
  • Ideally experience of working on integrated qualitative and quantitative insight projects
  • Creative problem solver
  • Strong attention to detail

Desired:

  • Experience working with kids, able to build quick rapport
  • Expertise in specific area of youth culture and/or families
  • Experience working on mixed quant/qual projects

Working arrangements:Hybrid, very flexible working from home options, with C.
